Hi I got my grandmother 1954 model E Electrolux vacuum but did not get any manual or attachments. I was wondering if anyone has one they would be willing to part with. |

Hi Heather, you can find ads for attachments and even original User's Manuals which surface on Ebay. Check occasionally and I bet you will find what you need. If you get the book first, it will show you what attachments came with that model. Best of luck, Garry |

I keep owners manuals too, and try to go back and find them if I sell something at a garage sale, or even if I just throw something away, I put the manual with it in case anyone wants it.
If I can find the manual online sometimes I'll print it out if I'm selling the item. It's rare to find manuals with things at garage sales and other places though. It makes me wonder if they're just filed away somewhere. |

I think ordinary people keep owners manuals, but don't bother digging for them when they sell/get rid of the item.
When I was doing my grandpa's estate sale, he had all the owners manuals in a filing cabinet, so I was able to pair the manuals with the items. A guy offered $50 for an old craftsman miter saw, and I said, "Look buddy, it's old, but it works, it has ALL the accessories, and it even has the owners manual! It's worth at least $60." I got the $60. |

I would guess they probably just printed them out to make the item seem more valuable. I do that though if I think it would be helpful for the buyer to have the instructions in using it.
When my grandma sold her house and we had the estate sale, we found the manuals for the items in a cabinet with receipts and things. Unfortunately we had already sold all of the items before we found them. In the past when my parents were having a garage sale, and I saw things being sold that I knew we had the manuals to, I would get them out and run out to give it to the buyer. |

I'm 26 and I copied this idea from my uncle. I keep all the owners manuals to everything that comes with one, and file it in a filing cabinet in alphabetized file folders by manufacturer name.
When I do sell things, a lot of times I forget to include the manual or I don;t expect it to sell and don;t bother grabbing the manual, and then it does sell but I don;t have the time to dig for the manual. |

I seen a nice toteable plastic file box at Staples, I plan to buy one to use just for vacuum manuals and also for my own self-made service record logs. If I go to sell any vacuum in the future, there's the manual, and there's a detailed history of everything done to the vacuum under my ownership.

Nope. The manuals are mine. I choose whether or not I give the manual when I sell something. If it's a vacuum, forget it. I keep the manual. I have a file cabinet with hundreds and hundreds of vacuum manuals. Those are for display during the Vacuum Collectors Conventions. If the manual is to anything other than a vacuum, I may or may not keep it. After the warranty is up, I normally throw it away even if I still have the (insert item name here).
When I was made aware that there were going to be NO MORE real Speed Queen washers made, I bought one of the last ones immediately. I sold my old POS L.G. high efficiency washer on Deals With Friends, but I had kept the manual even though the POS was out of warranty. When I sold the machine to the woman who bought it, I gave her the manual and told her "this is going to be your best friend". She would never figure out what all buttons and cycles were for without it. In that instance, I'm glad I kept the manual. |
