I have a spare Electrolux AP 280 power head I want to disassemble for the brush and maybe other parts to install in my working vacuum cleaner.

But i can't get them apart.

is there a trick to that?

Very easy

there is 2 screws underneath the power head flip it over and unscrew the the 2 screws.
After that flip it right side up pry the cover off the pig tail is a bit hard to remove but done easily .And once inside the motor brush roll and other parts can be aces very easy.

"is there a trick"

Not sure which PN you have but with one of the Canadian PNs I serviced years ago there IS a trick.I seem to remember pins under the bumper. If yours is same proceed slowly and look for any and all fasteners. As good as US Elux is I always like many of the features on Canadian Elux.
Good Luck.
