I'd be curious to know what you tried to stop your Elux leaking to get better succion, the pros and cons and how much satisfied you were about your fixing.

Personally, I used shipping tape from one end to the other and I finished both ends with a couple of turns of white duck tape.

Pros:

-way better succion, feels almost like a new hose
-cheap fix
-material easy to source and to install

Cons:

-hose is a lot less flexible than before
-don't know how durable it will be

The old woven hoses are nice for show but for actually accomplishing its intended task, it's better to just hook up an OEM vinyl hose and get down to business.

You're totally right, but sometimes a 0.75$ fix is worth a try !

If you don't care about stiffness.....I found a company online that sells clear, heat shrink tubing in long lengths that shrinks 50%. So...in theory it would be large enough to fit over the ends and then shrink down over the hose. It's about $30 to do that length. I did the research, but to lazy to try it. Besides, I threw out my really nice looking Elux hoses....most of them.

There have been many posts on the pour method....almost to the point where it's become a mystical black art that only the 'special' can apply. Meh....I'd much rather attack the problem from the outside.

I thought about heat shrink but didn't go to the point of looking for something that big and that long ! THe price is a bit steep for what it is , though.

Yeah, I shopped a few places...industrial sites. If there is a better buy out there, I couldn't find it. However, if you've bought heat shrink tubing in the past, that's not a bad price for the diameter/length involved.

A new Aerus hose is over $100USD. But now all the aftermarket hoses are coming from China and the quality throughout is dismal. Been threads about that and my own experiences. Cheap stuff.....buyer beware

and easy fix that works for me is to carefully wrap cling film around the hose. you get the suction back and you still see the hoses pattern

Yes, I thought about that method too, probably the cheapest way to fix it, and the hose probably didn't loose to much flexibility, didn't it ?

That's an idea I hadn't thought of.....access to one of those hand machines that wraps construction material together; it's clear and the stuff is tough.
