This unique Wizard canister appears to have been made by Eureka Williams during a time when they had some corporate agreement with the Mexican appliance company Koblenz. It would be interesting to see the ratings plate to see if this was made in Mexico.

Not quite sure if Eureka made these Koblenz Princesses in the USA and shipped them south across the border, or if Koblenz actually bought the designs from Eureka and made them in Mexico.

It’s a really mysterious chapter in the history of Eureka: if you google aspiradora Koblenz and keep looking, you’ll find old Koblenz vacuums and vacuum advertisements from the 1970’s or 1960’s that look very, very similar to Eureka Princess canisters. The Wizard Princess you have looks identical to one of these Mexican vacs - the bumper is high up on the unit, unlike Eureka Princesses of the time.

Here is a really cool Koblenz that looks like it was part of Eureka’s line-up at the time - it’s called the “Devoradora”!!!!

And here’s a Mexican TV commercial showing a Koblenz canister that has a striking resemblance to Eureka’s blue Princesses of the 1960’s:

I think that might be a private label for Western Auto Stores?

Indeed...so Eureka offered Western Auto a canister designed for the Koblenz company. Wizard was the store brand of the Western Auto retailer.

Same process as when Sweden’s Electrolux sold a bagless canister rebranded Kenmore for Sears stores in the USA. That one was also imported into the USA through the Eureka company - just like this Wizard-branded Koblenz.
