Hi guys! Today is finally the day I got my new old vacuum from eBay! It’s a Sears Kenmore Whispertone upright vacuum, and I got for $64.99 + $34.95 shipping which makes it $99.94, yikes but still worth it! I’ve been craving for a Kenmore vacuum after my Progressive Direct Drive that I found 5 years ago and sadly got rid of 3 years ago because I vacuumed my sisters room when she had bedbug problems. But no biggie it’s all good! This is the later models from around 2000/2001, and I think they started making the Whispertones around the early 90’s, which I love to find soon. But anyways enjoy these pics of my addition to my collection!

Very Nice!! Great collection of vacuums and I Love your new Kenmore. I have a soft spot for certain Kenmore vacuums too, especially the ones made by Panasonic.

Congratulations on your beautiful navy blue Kenmore Whispertone! Thanks for sharing your pics too, let us know how you like it for cleaning and how all those attachment tool choices work. I love the Riccar attachments and I love the vacuums you can plug directly into the back like those, instead of just adding on to the length of the original hose.

It’s a real beauty!

Nice find. Some Kenmore Progressives in later years at least also came with that same floor brush!

I’ve had the Panasonic versions of this. Great machines. Gave them to family who abused them but they lasted a lot longer than most!

Excellent Kenmore! I'll bet its a hearty vacuum.

Can you use the synthetic HEPA Kenmore "Type O" bags in it? If so, I would highly recommend them. I use those bags in my Kenmore and the suction never seems to quit no matter how full the bag gets. The Kenmore I have is a slightly later model. It's the "Progressive Intelliclean" with the direct drive brush roll, dirt meter, swing open bag door, etc. I replaced the two-row direct drive brush for an identical four-row unit. The performance is insane.

Thanks for sharing!

I've always liked

the Panasonic uprights from this era, and anything similar (Sharp Twin Energy, Sanyo). Good machines, and clean styling. It's sad that Panasonic is all but leaving the vac business, but at least we can get similar machines from Tacony.

Early 2000's

panasonicvac's profile picture
These were one of the last Whispertones that Kenmore sold, they were discontinued in favor for the Progressive series. You may not notice but you're actually missing the exhaust cover for this, it would use another filter which can be washed if you want better filtration. Overall nice find you have there, it's one of my favorite Kenmores of all time.

Hi Panasonicvac! I enjoy your videos and love your vacuums, can you show me what the exhaust cover looks like? I never noticed I was missing a part.

Hi mr mom, yes I did remember reading your post about your whispertone, that’s really crazy, I hope my whispertone doesn’t do the same thing just like yours did. And when I set the brushroll setting off, the brushroll is still on. Is there a way to get that fixed? Thank you
.

Part number for the cover is 4369056 and for the filter is 4368669. Unfortunately both of the parts have been discontinued and the stock for them was depleted. Your only best shot is to find another one used from a different model.

Sounds like you've had a bad experience from Sears. The frame pedal was probably bad and it's uncommon for that to happen. You could've had a vacuum store replace it for you and not just Sears because Sears doesn't manufacture their own products or their parts.

Great machine!

I’ve come across a few of these machines over the years. I would change the belt on a regular basis, they seem to wear fairly quickly on these. I also recommend Kenmore HEPA bags- they protect the motor from dust accumulation. They also keep the bag compartment much cleaner.
