Here is a picture of an Electrolux Velocity. This vacuum cleaner was in a holiday cottage we went to last year. It didn't sound very healthy!

How dare they use the good Electrolux name on that! :)

That was sold under the Eureka brand in USA.

Ahh. The Eureka Maxima. What a steaming pile of S**t that was. These things clog way too quickly, they are loud, they leak dust like crazy and the build quality is non existent. I'm surprised they even have a vacuum at that cottage. Usually, they only have a broom. I stayed in one cottage that had a Eureka Maxima that was clogged and the hose was full of holes. It had dust all over it.

Adin, get it right! That wasn't the Eureka Maxima here, that was the Eureka Altima name this particular upright was sold under. Either way, though, both are disposable crap. :P

Despite the filtration method it uses, I actually like these to be quite honest here. I know the bagged versions are better but I wouldn't mind cleaning the filters if I only used it once every while like a couple months or so but not if I used it every week.

It’s rare because they were rubbish, unreliable and irreparable when they broke

Have you had an Electrolux Velocity before? If so witch wattage was it?

Turbo500 has two Electrolux Velocitys. A white one in his loft that doesn't work any more and a blue coloured one in his house that he uses most days.

Sorry that’s not true.
I don’t have any bagless vacuums, let alone a Velocity. I have used a fair few over the years though and wasn’t impressed, although they were marginally better than the Vitesse

My friends Mum had a blue animal model. 1800w, I think, with a turbo brush mounted on the front.

We got the "Electrolux" Velocity as the Eureka Altima over here in the U.S. of A. From what I can tell, the Eureka Altima seems to be more feature rich than the Electrolux Velocity, despite the fact that the two vacuums share the same design. The Eureka Altima had the self cleaning duster, turbo brush, stretch hose, etc. while the Electrolux Velocity seems to be a more basic cleaner. Eureka also had another vacuum that was similar to the Eureka Altima called the Eureka Uno, which was basically a Eureka Altima with a Eureka Optima style telescopic handle. If I remember correctly, the Eureka Altima was available in yellow, red, and blue. I trash picked a red one once, and was far from impressed. I hated it so much I returned it to it's rightful place in the garbage can. Apparently, a lot of other people hate it too, judging by the two star average on Best Buy's website. I've attached pictures of both the Eureka Altima (first pic) and the Eureka Uno (second pic).

Thanks for sharing these pictures very interesting information about the Eureka Altima and the Electrolux Velocity. Here in the UK we have the Electrolux Loopie which was like the Eureka Uno. Again thanks for commenting and sharing these pictures.

Also I've noticed something interesting about the Electrolux velocity. Some have rectangle switches and some have round switches.

Eureka has ruined the Electrolux name

Both here in the US and now abroad using it on their cheap poor products. Our Electrolux became Aerus which still sells the same quality products that used to be under the Electrolux name. When Eureka bought the name rights here in the US the US company renamed to Aerus. Eureka sold Electrolux branded vacuums here at big box stores and unknowing consumers bought them and soon were disillusioned at how they didn’t last before having issues and couldn’t get them fixed. Then it got worse with Redesigns and finally they have pulled out of the US market. I’ve used a Eureka similar to the Electrolux velocity displayed here and it was horrible...no suction. Cleaned the filter and it was just ok then quickly clogged again. It was lightweight, junky and just a piece of crap. I imagine it was probably around $40 or so. The strange thing was I wondered if the person who had this (a customer of mine) actually liked it as he had two of them??? And they were both just as clogged as the other. Maybe he thought he got a bad one the first time and bought a second to see if things would be better. But no, just a bad choice by a company who used to make quality products and now has fallen to making disposable cheap junk.

Fortunately, "Eurekalux" has completely pulled out of the USA vacuum market. Eureka is now owned by Midea, Sanitaire was sold to Bissell, and the "Electrolux" branded vacuums made by Eureka have now been completely discontinued. Aerus really needs to buy back the rights to the Electrolux name in North America. No one knows who Aerus is, but everyone and their grandma (literally) know who Electrolux is. I love my Aerus Electrolux vacuums. They're quiet, durable, and they clean better than any other clean air vacuum on the market.

Ok thanks for commenting guys. Here in the UK the Electrolux Velocity isn't very popular unfortunately. A lot of people think there rubbish but they look nice. Apparently the people who own that Holiday Cottage have got rid of that Electrolux Velocity because it was broken. When my Mum turned it on to pick up some crumbs on the kitchen floor in the holiday cottage the Electrolux Velocity just made a high pitched noise and I thought to my self that doesn't sound right the vacuum sounded broken and it didn't pick up the crumbs on the floor. Next year when I went to another holiday cottage that was next to the one with the Electrolux Velocity in there was a vax canister vacuum I was interested if the Electrolux Velocity was still in the cottage next door but when we asked they said "we don't have it any more I think it got thrown away".

In my opinion, the Eureka Altima (Electrolux Velocity) looks like a godawful cheap plastic contraption. I'll attach some picture of what I (and quite a few others on here) consider to be good looking vacuums. Of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so if the Electrolux Velocity is what you like, go for it.
