Hello Everyone,
I recently bought three Kirby vacuums as a job-lot, and I'm restoring the Legend II first. Can anyone help me to find a MAROON Power Cord (in the UK preferably) please? I cannot understand why replacement cords are often limited to Black. Colouring plastics any colour seems to be a straightforward process for most manufacturers. BTW: If anyone wants the Shampoo System for a Tradition or Legend II, or the Tradition Handi-Butler, or Jig-Saw Attachment - they're going for the cost of postage only. |

Alan,
I've noticed your Legend II has the later Generation 3-style tool set! That means your Legend II was made in late 1990, '91 or '92, as export sales of the Generation 3 didn't occur until September of '92. And the Tradition? I wonder if that one has a 10-blade metal fan? Kirby has been consolidating parts colors for their older machines so as to lower costs. The power cord you're trying to find for your Legend II would be part no. 953888 (maroon). ~Ben |

Hi Ben,
Yes, the tools are the only thing going for the pair. They're new/mint/unused. It doesn't look good on initial inspection, but they can both be refurbished/restored given time and lots of money. TRADITION --------- White plastic fan. Motor works well. Safety Switch missing (wires taped together). Brush Roller bearing jammed. Lens viewer burned. Power Lead cut. No Hose. LEGEND II --------- Motor works well. All NEW Tools & Caddy. Filler-tube split in three. Safety Switch intermittent. Power Lead missing. Foot Switch replaced with Black one. Power socket smashed. Re-assembled incorrectly - Hood won't shut. Screws missing. |
