Hi all.

I recently came across a Hoover Floormate Spinscrub at a thrift store. Asking price was about $20. I was intrigued as I had never used one of these before. I see that Hoover still makes these machines, though they look a bit more updated than the H3010 model I picked up.

Anyways, it was filthy when I saw it in the store as it looked liked whoever had it may have used it on carpet. It was clogged with hair and other debris. I cleaned it up and it appears to work perfectly. There is a step switch for changing between dry/wet pickup and the wet scrub feature. It has 6 brush heads that spin when the scrub feature is engaged. It also vacuums up the water in this setting and empties it into a collection bin.

One thing strange is that the on/off switch is down on the side of the machine versus on the upper handle which I felt was awkward to use. The vacuum function of course is not the most powerful, but it does a serviceable job for light debris on a hard floor surface like linoleum or wood.

I do like the ability to be able to take most of the bits and pieces of the machine apart, such as the collection bin and filter, as well as the water/cleaner reservoir and suction head. The brushes detach as one complete unit so you can rise it under the faucet. I did not have any of the Hoover detergent (it called for some Lysol branded spin scrub cleaner, but I don't think it is made any longer, nor is the Old English brand cleaner for wood floors). It explicitly stated do not use solvents or any pine scented type cleaners. It must cause problems with the solution pump or something so I just tried it with water. My kitchen floor is linoleum but is uneven in some areas so the suction is not the greatest if the floor is not flat. Otherwise it seems to work well for its intended purpose.

Any thoughts on these Hoover Floormates?
