I was thumbing through one of the supply catalogs for the hotel and I seen this odd looking machine in the vacuum section. I had to looked it up and it seems to be a fairly nice and interesting machine. I know I might sound crazy...but to me this looks like what the Hoover Z wanted to be when if it ever got out of the awkward weird stage of its life. The poor Z gets a lot of flack, but I've always admired it. They had a lot of nice features on it they just didn't execute them very well. Between the unusual shape, the led lights along the front edge of the machine, the electronic status board, and looped handle and the long stretch draw hose they do share of a lot of ideas. The ProGen goes above and beyond too, featuring such niceties as being able to take out the brush roll without tools and bagged filtration that works instead of that silly rotating HEPA filter the Z employed. The bag system is similar to that of the Electrolux uprights, where the lid flips over and you can pull the bag out. The bags are self sealing as well.
Am I crazy or is the grown up Hoover Z??

I also LOVED the Hoover Z and always wanted to own the deluxe 700 model but never was able to find one that was not badly taken care of by a careless consumer.

I too really like the Proteam Progen 12, and will eventually buy one. They seem to be a really nice vacuum. I like the colors, style (triangular shape with the Handle up front) and features.

I personally thought of a Sebo Automatic X series combined with a Felix when I first saw the Progen. The Felix has the hinged Bag door similar to the Proteam.... with the hose similar to a Sebo Automatic X series. The hinged door access to the disposable bag even makes me reminisce on the Electrolux 502 or 560 series upright. All together I’m very interested in the Proteam Progen vacuum.

Thanks for sharing!

The Proteam Progen makes me think of a Sebo upright vacuum more so than a Hoover Z.The Progen would be much better than the Hoover Z-Bagged-not the clunky, heavy, non intuitive design the Z had.The Progen sounds like it could be a nice vacuum for home or LIGHT commercial use-say for offices. The main body looks like one of their backpack vacuums mounted on the upright chassis.

We had one.

After a demonstration where the proteam rep tossed the machine across the room. My boss purchased one to try it out. While it looks like a nice vacuum, I was not impressed with it. While it had higher suction than the Windsor Versamatic Pluses we usually use it's airflow was noticeably weaker. The edge cleaning left a lot to be desired and the use of the wand was uncomfortable. The brushes wore down much quicker than the Windsor ones. It uses a special cord with a molded end, and we replaced it about 3 times (chalk that up to abuse) but it almost always became damaged near the machine end plug. Eventually the handle release broke, the brushroll wore down, and the cord had exposed wiring yet again so we tossed it in the dumpster. We probably had it for a little over a year.

Reminds me more of the Windsor sensor. Has very similar features.
