Here's another vacuum I added to my collection on 11/15/2017 for the total price of $35.08! It came from a Goodwill Outlet that had an eBay operations depot for larger items. This vacuum came straight from hipster central, Seattle Washington! It's in a "fixie" style similar to bicycles with a menagerie of different color parts like it was built from the ground up on a tight budget with junk parts.

I have not tested it yet or used it as of this writing on 2/6/2018 because I want to go over it and oil it and wash it before using it as well as repair the cord obviously. The red panel of the vacuum is weird to me, as I originally thought that it was hand-painted on purpose by the owner to make the machine look junky, but it looks like it is factory. None of it came off when I rubbed it, and there is no signs of the original paint chipping off under it or hiding under the trim. I also do not think that anyone other than a factory could pinstripe the lettering that perfectly?

Also does anyone know if the hose can be fixed by sawing off the damaged end and reattaching the coupler? And the electrical cord looks worse than it actually is. The inner wires are fine, but the outer sheathing used to be rubberized and it hardened with age and became brittle and cracked at all the bend points. You can snap it like a glowstick.

It also weirdly came with some unknown white vacuum accessories and some Rainbow tools that look brand new.

Enjoy the photos!

Oh and I forgot to ask, is this the model that has that automatic "bag flinger" in it when the bag is full? I couldn't tell from Googling here or online.

Interesting on the red paint....not a color that is associated with a G....but if someone did that, they went to a hell of a lot of trouble.

There was a dealer/factory tool for repairing the hose ends like that.....but most dealers just resupplied a plastic, accordion type hose for the G. I have three or four of those hoses.

A 'fixie' in bicycle vernacular is a geared bike made to just have one crank speed, i.e., one fixed gear.....although I can see where one could expand the term to include bikes made from parts and mismatched colors etc. Nothing is sacred...there have been some beautiful old ten speeds rendered into 'fixies'....

@ TheSpiritOf76 - Okay thanks!

@ Real1shep - Yeah the term "fixie" has shifted now and I guess it has dual meanings. Project bikes made from a bunch of random mismatched parts can be called fixies now. Like if a mountain bike has a racing bike wheel on the front and maybe a saddle seat and a cruiser bike fork.

I'm sure if I disassemble it and clean it out maybe it might reveal itself if it's been just painted on the outside or its through-and through.

There is no brush marks or lumpy spots on it at all, so this wasn't a small scale repaint in any case. Maybe if the person was a skilled auto painter they could have pulled this off, but I have no idea.

I did read that Canadian Electroluxes were red, maybe this was a serviced or factory repainted one, or at least the shell of one? I got it in any case because it's one of a kind, and I do like the color contrasts.

Sort of an interesting mix of colors and parts.

Nice canisters, Phaeton! I might get a rubber hose for this vac if I can find one cheap.

If you want one of those plastic/rubber type accordion hoses, I'll send you one. I hate them but they are very functional.

Interesting theory on the Canadian connection. I'm not an authority on what was made or sent up there. But they look different than our models up to a point, then everything was the same. I'll let the good folks up in Canada comment on this red G. From what has been posted here in the past, their tanks of that vintage look a little different.

On photo #10, your PN outlet is on the side just in front of the wheel. That makes it at least not one of the older G's. If you want to run a PN you'll need that long cord as well that goes from the outlet all the way up to nozzle.  But, you can buy an aftermarket hose with the electric built in and just has the two PN ends visible. Pretty slick.....I have one like that.......but the newer hoses are all China made.

If you want to do that, that would be much appreciated, thank you! As long as it doesn't leak the condition won't bother me. I'd likely use this Electrolux G as a "vacuum cleaner cleaner" to suck out the other vacuums in my collection since I usually seem to always find ones with full bags.

Also I think my grandmother's Olympia One has a hose like that on it, with the cord for the power nozzle within the hose, and you just plug it in. I always thought it looks like a gas pump nozzle.

What the dealers did was remove the metal end parts of the leaking OE hose and then glued them onto the plastic/rubber hose. I had a nozzel end came loose once and I glued it back with something that wasn't robust enough for the task. I lacked the interest to repair it further. I have one that came with a G that I've never used. I also bought a complete set of the OE vinyl PN cord clamps that match the early aqua green. No, I'm never parting with those...lol.

I just moved, so everything is in disarray, but I'm pretty sure I know where the extra hoses are. You'll have to PayPal me the postage...I'm not that generous. And I can include a PN cord in the aqua green if you want it....'IF' that still leaves me with a few spares.

Also, I have a lot of PN1's.....more than I can ever use and in the aqua green. They're more of a novelty to me as I'm a bigger fan of the PN's later on. I think I got at least one PN1 thrown into every G I ever bought....whether I wanted it or not....lol. There was a lady seller on eBay once that had a G I wanted (this is back when they were routinely selling for $25-the tanks). I was the only bidder...strangely. The auction wording was very bizarre. It led me to believe she knew nothing of what she had.  A long period of time went by and no vac. I sent her an inquiry through ebay. Said she was sending it with some other stuff. Mind you, I just bought the tank. In the box was a PN1, the accordion hose, extra wand pieces and a Lux floor shampooer!

Another time on eBay before G's skyrocketed in price.....this seller acquired a lot of Electrolux parts....if I remember the story it was from a defunct dealer/relative. They had no idea what they were doing. I picked up a G in incredible physical condition for about $35. And I bought repair parts too. None of their stuff sold well and it was all largely mint...you could tell by the pics.  I never did understand that...they probably had been told to go on eBay and seek their fortune. They got screwed or screwed themselves....however you want to look at it.

Cool, thanks! If you have a hose and power nozzle cord (doesn't have to be a matching color) I'd be interested in it. I'll have to decline the offer on the PN1 itself as I don't need one right this minute.

I don't have the money right now though, but will soon. Probably by the end of the month or sooner.

If you ever got to know me.....time is never an issue.  I kinda have my own pace with hobbies. If you ever decide you want a PN1, I'll probably still have a few around. I'm not one of these guys that gets frustrated and sells everything, only to have huge regrets later....I just keep it...lol.

I'll check on the hose this weekend and the PN cords. I just had a friend come over and ask me for muriatic acid...I sent him away with sulfuric and hydrochloric. You never know with me what I have.

Unfortunately I only wish I had a house that big to do that with! I have only 800sqft. minimal traditional WWII troop home and it's pretty cluttered. My goal this year is to clean out the guest room in the basement and make it back into a bedroom and not a junk room, and also park my vacuums in there along the side wall.

Huskyvacs....I finally dug out the extra dealer 'reconditioned' hoses I have. The pics show two different hoses and one tan external PN electric line.

The hoses are a bit different in styling; I suspect the one with the pistol type grip to be newer. You can pick. I'll check for leaks before sending, but I never see these hoses leak unless perforated by something sharp. They're very durable....and ugly.

They're not 'perfect', 'minty', 'like new' and all the rest of the BS eBay speak. They are dirty and need cleaning...period. I'll let one hose go and the pigtail if you want it. After that, my generosity is tapped out. I would 'assume' you would reciprocate someday if you had something I wanted of similar value....lol.

It looks great! The newer one with the pistol grip would work for me. You can keep the pigtail power cord as since my last post I've gotten another teal G with matching PN1 and cable.

This one I intend just to use as a vacuum-cleaner-outer so I doubt I will ever have a PN1 on it so it won't be necessary.

Thanks!

I do have a bunch of odds and ends vacuum parts laying around but it's not all together.

Those white tools look like generic replacements. Correct me if I'm wrong.

@Adin...they are. If they are electrolux floor tools...they say Electrolux.

@huskyvac....send me a PM with your contact info, please.

I found out the one brown tool is a Rainbow tool. The white ones are both generic and unbranded, no idea the make.

Just as an update - I opened the vacuum's bag door and removed the bag yesterday and looked inside with a flashlight. The inside of the housing is beige, so that must have been the original color.

Are you going to leave it the way it is?

I think it looks pretty cool, in a hipster-fixie kind of way!

Oh yeah it will stay the way it is! That's the reason why I got it, it's unique and you won;t ever see an ElectroLux like this one, and whoever painted it was a professional in every right. You can look at it with a magnifying glass and the paint is dead perfect in application as well as the pinstriped Electrolux emblem, I dunno how they did it so good.

I still plan to use it as my "vacuum cleaner cleaner-outer" vac to suck out clogs, clean bagless vacs, antique vacuum dust bags, and all that.
