Hey everybody! So 3 days ago when my mom and I were out shopping, and I wanted to go to goodwill and see what they got new. So I went to housewares and saw some modern vacuums and on the shelf I
happen to saw an old Hoover Portapower box! Inside was the vacuum itself, hose, floor & rug tool, 1 wand, and a crevice tool. I tooked about a couple of minutes to think about if I should buy it or not, so I made the right choice of buying it! The box was really old so I left it there, along with the crevice tool and wand and tooked the vacuum, hose, and floor tool and paid $23.80, which is not bad. When I got the Portapower, it was a little dirty so I used my mom’s homemade cleaning spray and it made the vacuum almost like new. It’s funny because I’ve been thinking about wanting a decent portable vacuum like this and sure enough this one has my name on it! I also have attachments to go perfect with this.

The original filter was old and disintegrated so I used a Eureka filter by cutting it a lil bit and fits pretty well!

The serial number. Anybody knows what month and year this one was made? I found out the S1049 was made from 1981 to 1987.

I would have taken all of the attachments. Those old Hoover attachments are hard to find these days, you could always use them if you get another machine that is missing some.

You'll love that little cleaner, though.

They are fun little vacuums.

I have only used one, was not impressed as it lost airflow very quickly. One of the ladies I used to help had one that she bought as a set with her Dial-A-Matic.
The color scheme was the same.

She always asked why I didn't use the smaller unit. The Dial-A-Matic had better airflow and maintained the air flow better. She had a cat and litter box and the litter dust clogged the porta power quickly.

I love these things! I've got one with wheels on it, and another like this. Definitely a shame about leaving the attachments though!

Well the only attachments I left there was the crevice tool and 1 extension wand. I have a Hoover upright tool set that works perfectly great on the Portapower. And I would love to find a Portapower with wheels!

I tried out a commercial one a couple of year ago (it was orange IIRC) which used a grey shake-out bag. It sure got the job done!
