From the Marklund Resale in Woodale, for a whopping $10 we have this little beauty.
A diamond in the rough for now, I think it will clean up very nice!

Wow! Not a Hoover but a beautiful cleaner indeed! You have gotten some fantastic deals there, Jeff, over the years. I really like the chrome Eurekas from this era. What is the vintage of this one?

Nope, not a Hoover

but still worthy of rescue!
There are still TONS of old Convertibles out there, but these old Eurekas are few and far between. This poor thing sat someplace damp, its paint is bubbly in places, but it runs beautifully and only needed a clean bag and new belt to make it purr.
I have done a movie of it which is uploading to youtube as I type this.
This thing absolutely just purrs, and it does a good job on my plush carpeting too!

Jeff, just wondering, did you notice if it has an adjustment
feature on the rear axel. Some of those late 60's Eureka uprights had a stem on the rear wheel axel that would give
you a normal and low setting? Other wise really no height
change.

That's a nice one and sounds just like a Eureka

Beautiful Machine Jeff, it sounds like it has some real power behind it. Love the way it groomed the carpet too.

Nice Eureka, Jeff!

And with a cordwinder, even! That one's beautiful as is but I'm sure the chrome will polish beautifully, especially with you and Michael working on it! You both do excellent work! Congrats on the nice find!

Jeff...

Congrats! She's a beauty. The Midwest is a treasure trove.

Yes its a beauty!

I wonder how many of these were actually sold? I see Convertibles from the 60's all over still, but there are not many Eurekas of this vintage to be seen. Its pretty obvious the Convertible out-sold it, but I wonder what the ratio of Hoover to Eureka sold was?
This one runs like a champ, and the brush roll looks new. It does have its cosmetic issues though, there is some rust on the hood, and paint bubbling under the bumper. It also needs a light bulb, but otherwise it runs great!
I believe this to be Eureka's TOL model for its time, which I'm guessing to be somewhere around 1966-1968.
Norm: yes it has the hight adjuster on the rear wheels.

I've made a reservation for it this weekend at La Spa du Michael, where it will look beautiful when it comes out!

Jeff,

What a wonderful find. I love Eureka products. Here in this area I think Eureka was more popular than Hoover. As a child I remember more Eureka's than I ever remember Hoovers. Perhaps it had something to do with the dealerships in the area. Of course Montgomery Wards was a big business when I ws a child and they carried Eureka products with thier badged name on the product.

My personal opinion is that they cleaned very well and the bad design was much better than Hoover's C bag design. I love that front mount attachment port... I have one machine in my collection that has that option. I also have the complete tool set as well.

Morgan
