I have a box of Hoover 700 attachments. In the box is something I've never seen before: a second cloth hose about 4 ft. long. It's the same color (black) as the main hose, has the same weaving pattern (orange stripes), and the same chrome connector ends. See photo. Anyone else seen this, or know what its purpose was?

Never seen one of those before!

Although I think you may have mentioned it on one of the forums some time ago - my first guess was that perhaps it was supplied as an extention hose, for customers who couldn't make it all the way up the stairs with the standard length.

That theory falls down because the hose has 2 'male' ends, as would the full-sized hose, and would need some sort of connector to join the two.

Here's my Hoover mystery object...a fabric bag. It's not a dust bag of any kind, I'm 100% sure of that. But I don't know what it is! The extention tube is there for size comparison. 'The Hoover' is stencilled in gold. I wonder if it was what the hose came in originally...

"Never seen one of those before!"

I'll second that! I have never seen one or heard of one. For that matter, I can't think of a good reason for one to even exist! Like Jack said, it has two male ends. Another thing to consider is, when is the last time you saw an extention hose shorter than the original? I can't say I have.

That Hoover bag still has me stumped too. I guess I have no good answers for anyone today. Luckily my latest Hoover restoration is coming along nicely, with no big mysteries to tell about.
