So I picked this Eureka The Boss model 2034 A up at my local Goodwill today for $8.00. Any info on this machine? It has the 6.5 amp motor and the ESP with Vibra-Groomer II brushroll. Are these the vacuums with the motors that go bad so easily or am I mistaken for another model? This one has a manufacture date on the bottom of the base of August 1989. Thanks!

A very nice, top performer from Eureka - the first model labelled “The Boss.” Very highly rated in Consumer Reports at the time - maybe even a Best Buy if I remember correctly.

On a visit to Detroit in 1990, my friend picked one up at Sears for about $120 which included a set of attachments. The motor is quite powerful on these, so setting the Dial-a-Nap height adjuster to a slightly higher setting will prevent suction-lock on the carpet while still allowing effective cleaning and grooming.

Enjoy your Boss!

I have picked up 3 at yard sales, they are easy to fix and not a lot to break. I gave them all away, still going! Oh that was 20 years ago
