This auction just ended on eBay, apparently mere minutes after it was listed with its "sale of the century" Buy-it-now of $59.95. ( See the link below.)

I have a feeling the seller would have gotten a lot more for it had they let the listing run for a few days because, even though it's a Plain-Jane model, it's in practically new condition and one that I've never seen before.

My guess is that it is an older model that Royal "reconditioned, renewed and refurbished" and sold, à la Hoover, as a "Special" model.

Hi Charles,

I am the one that bought it this morning,it was $90.00 total with shipping.... Also last week a brand new in the boxes Filter Queen model 200 from 1941 came up and I bought it as well!!!! The total price on the model 200 was $84.50 complete with every option! I could not believe that I found such a beautiful dream machine!

PS $84.50 was the selling price when it was new....I paid 99.99 plus shipping for it.

Electro-Hygiene 750

Yes, that is a very rare model indeed! I have only seen one of them, and that was in a back room of the store I worked out of when I sold Electro-Hygienes in 1974. My guess is that it is from the late 50's or early 60's. They were not rebuilds like the Hoover Specials, but actual brand new lower priced machines, which the salesman would offer if the customer didn't want the top of the line model. There was also a 701 Special which I have, and I think the 750 Special was a bit smaller than the 701.
David, congrats on finding a rare machine in exceptional condition! Wish mine was that nice. Here's a pic.
