This morning I bought a Hoover WindTunnel 3 Pro UH70901RM vacuum off eBay for $12.99 listed as refurbished. I wake up today to an eMail from eBay saying that the listing was removed and the seller was deleted because it was a compromised account. Someone evidently goes around hacking dead eBay accounts that have been on the site since 1999/2000 and is using them to list fake products.

Now my payment I made is stuck on "processing" and I can't resolve an issue to cancel the sale because the seller doesn't exist anymore on the site due to eBay deleting it.

So yeah, I am stuck now in limbo and I am sad because I thought it was a legit sale too.

I hear ya, huskyvacs

A few months ago I bought a (Buy it Now) pneumo-vac.
The guy was on vacation but didn't notify Ebay.
He never confirmed the sale (he didn't even know
about it) so Ebay put the whole thing in Limbo
and stuck me with an "Unpaid Purchase" tag, which
can get you kicked off Ebay. After numerous emails
to the guy, my last was to cancel the purchase.
I did call Ebay early and let them know the whole
crazy story. Everything worked out, and the funds
were released back to my account.
I think Ebay has a buyer protection reimbursement
policy. Wouldn't hurt to call and ask about that.

I've actually dealt with this myself many times over the 10+ years that I've been on eBay. Just contact eBay or paypal and tell them the situation and they should issue you a refund within a few days.

I had that situation this past summer when I thought I'd bought seasons 1-6 of Game of Thrones on DVD for $15. Almost immediately, the seller started amassing a phenomenal amount of negative feedback and eBay steadfastly refused to acknowledge the obvious, issuing obnoxious "your item is on its way" messages whenever I tried to open a case This went on until the seller's feedback fell well into the negative numbers, which I have never seen before or since. Only then did they delete the seller's account and make it possible for me to seek a refund.

I had this happen last week on a Dyson v6 handheld. Just thankful that eBay is watching the scammers. And maybe I shouldn't drink and bid, honestly one feedback.

I always have faith in eBayers and this account was inactive for 2 years, but did have 100% feedback. I read the auction 3 times, seen no catch, and seen 15 other people bought one.
