Sanitaire uprights have great airflow in great education but generally require belt changes more frequently than bag changes back in 2010 when they closed up Mexico and move motor factoring to China we saw Quality In Eureka products in general go down new Lows. But if you can find a late model with ST HEPA bag 100% made in Mexico definitely pick it up. But the Chinese ones are so bad that we phased them out of several stores I worked in which we now sell Hoover commercial and SEBO in their place.
"Goodnight sweet prince you will be missed" is how I would sum up sanitaire. |

I do think Sanitaire makes one of the best and quietest backpack vacuums, it's very quiet and powerful, I have 8 backpacks in my collection and it's one of my favorites. Mike CLICK HERE TO GO TO n0oxy's LINK |

Are we sure that Sanitaire vacs are now made in China? As far as I know, the Sanitaire division of Electrolux SE was not sold to the Chinese company Midea when the Eureka division was sold to them.
The Sanitaire Commercial website still says that it is a subsidiary of Swedish Electrolux, not Chinese Midea. Could someone post a close-up picture of a Sanitaire ratings plate from a classic SC888 or SC889 upright. I would be curious to see if it still says whether it was assembled in Mexico or not. |

@eurekaprince unfortunately I work with the stuff on a daily basis and I can confirm that for quite some time that stuff's been coming from China. As far as the parent company that business still gets more complicated every time I look into it.
@n0oxy I had a few issues with the aluminum plate in the backpack that ties all the wires together burning up right where your small of your back would fit onto the back back under the four T20 screws. So if it starts to get warm be careful. |

But the problem is they are so light that when you pull them backwards they nose dive and burn up belts. |

Nose dive pulling backward-don't have that problem with mine-is the nozzle height adjusted properly?Similar to a Kirby or Royal.Start with the nozzle all the way up-then adjust downward until the brush hits the carpet. Then the Sanitaire should work fine. |

I picked one up in excellent condition for $10 at a Goodwill store a little over a month ago. It's a SC 686, made around 1980 in the USA by Eureka Williams. The thing needed a belt and a lower cord hook. I'm not fond of the dump bag setup but other than that, it's a well built, albeit very simple machine. It took me a little while to get the hang of the level adjustment but now that I understand it, it's a beast. The real beauty of a Sanitaire is it's designed to be rebuilt quickly and easily and replacement parts are dirt cheap, especially when bought in bulk.
