I found this video on YouTube a while ago and I actually really like it. In fact, I think it's overall my favorite central vacuum infomercial that I've ever seen. They no longer make these, it was depleted around the same time when Panasonic went out of the vacuum business. Back home I have a neighbor that has a grey 80's - 90's Hayden kit but she has a 80's - 90's Vacuflo unit with it and not to mention the sock hose with Vacuflo logos on it. The kit was made by Panasonic (Matsushita) and it's one of my favorite kits of all time, perhaps my most favorite of all time. I've never used a SuperVac unit before, I'm not a fan of the soft start technology but they've made a good point about it to make the unit last longer, and I thought the service indicator was interesting. I know it's not the most pleasant central vacuum to maintain since it's filtered cyclonic but I would still take these anyday over central vacuums with the inverted self cleaning filter. It's a shame the manufacturer ceased production because if I would've known sooner than later, this would've been one of my first choices to look into for a central vacuum.

I had no idea Hayden made a video like this. MD and Aqua-air had videos like this online for awhile, but they didn't include much footage of portable vacs, like the Fantom and GE in this video. For years I was convinced the MD SilentMaster was the greatest vacuum ever produced.
Hayden stuck with their Panasonic nozzles for a long time. MD still sells the Lindhaus "Stealth" nozzles introduced in the late '90s. Does anyone about these companies contracts? I know there are only so many power nozzle companies out there, but I was always under the impressed Hayden sold almost exclusively Panasonic kits. There's still a ton of new homebuilding out here in Arizona, but I never see central-vacs in home listings. Were central vacs more of a 80s-90s home building fad? I'd love to have one later in my life, but it's going to be hard to find an existing home with one already installed. | ||
