Hello. I am having trouble choosing a vacuum. I have a 2500sq ft house with mostly carpet. Which vacuum should I get? I want something around $300 and that is kinda quiet. Nothing too loud. Also, I want it to deep clean well! Like, be the BEST at deep cleaning. I have some I'm looking at.

Sanitaire sc889a
Sanitaire sc5713b
Proteam 1200xp
Prolux 7000/9000
Karcher/Windsor/Sebo vacuums (cv300, sensor, etc.)
Tacony/Maytag m50 or similar
Rubbermaid MH vacuums
thank you for your response.

Go to vac shops that have these machines in your list--and try them out to see which you like best.

Of what's listed that Sanitaire sc889a is most likely the best for carpet cleaning power.
My 2nd choice would be either a Tacony/Maytag m50 or similar or the prolux.

For the absolute best (in my opinion) for carpet cleaning you'd want a Simplicity Synergy or Riccar radiance. but those start at 999

For your price range, I highly recommend the Hoover Platinum Lightweight vacuum. It’s an excellent deep carpet cleaner with a nice 30 foot cord, headlight and very large dust bag. It sells for under $300 at Home Depot and other places. Consumer Reports gave it top marks in most test categories including carpet cleaning and filtration and ease-of-use (it weighs only 13 lbs). It’s packaged with a separate mini canister for above-the-floor cleaning that is not that great, but for $300 the upright alone is well worth it. Home Depot also has Hoover’s venerable Self-Propelled WindTunnel that is a phenomenal deep carpet cleaner with a nice wide head. The self-propulsion feature makes it a breeze to use for large swaths of wall-to-wall carpeting. Home Depot sells it for under $300. Go to their website to see their selection - www.homedepot.com.... They also sell commercial Hoovers online.

I'll be the spoil sport. Do you want to have a vacuum that can deep clean for decades? For my $300.00, I'd find a nice Kirby with a ton of attachments. While I only have 12 or so vacuums (Hoover coffee can and Kirby), my favorite by far is the Kirby Classic III. It does a fantastic job of removing three cats and a large german shepherd's worth of hair on a weekly basis. I have pretty much every attachment for it. Just love it.

I've owned commercial Riccars, Windsor, and Sanitaires for large health care and college applications. Most are junk after 4 years. I have a beautiful Kirby 562 for my office suite. It's quiet, relatively light, and is a joy to use.

I have seen Kirbys reduced to junk also-that were used for commercial cleaning. If you use yours for YOUR office and don't let anyone else use it-should be fine. But whole building cleaning will beat up a Kirby just like the others-esp if used by multiple users that don't own or care about the vacuum.Commerrcail cleaning causes the early death of ANY vacuum!
