Haven't taken any pictures yet, but thought I'd tell you all about my latest additions to my collection. On Sunday at the calling hours for an Aunt who passed away, one of my cousins told me he was cleaning out a house for a friend whose Grandfather had passed away. He said there were several vacuums there and they were mine if wanted them, and I could pick them up Tuesday at his Mother's house. Shortly after I got home from work Tuesday my neighbor came over (the same neighbor who gave me the Lewyt 90, Electro-Hygiene 701, and the Kirby 512) and gave me a Hoover Special model 700! It has some agitator issues but otherwise runs great, and has the original Special bag on it. Later that evening when I arrived at my Aunt's house, I found waiting for me a Hoover Convertible model U4005, a Sanitaire 25th Anniversary model S663, a Kirby Classic III, and two Royals--or so I thought. When I got them home and took a closer look, I found that one of the Royals was a model 602, 75th Anniversary Edition, and the other one was actually a model 890 Electro-Hygiene with a Royal bag on it!! They all need cleaned up, but they all run great, except that the Classic III is making some bearing noise. None of them have attachments with them, but my cousin isn't finished going through the house yet, and said they may turn up. He also said there was another vacuum in the garage that he couldn't get to until he moves more stuff out, but I could have that one, too! So, it looks like I've got some cleaning and polishing to do--lots of it!! Jeff |

I'd be especialy interested in seeing the 75th anniversary Royal. If I remember right its slightly different looking than most Royals you see these days. The anniversary Sanitare would be cool to see too. |

Actually, the one I have doesn't look much different than other model 601 or 602 Royals I've seen, except for a label on the nozzle that says "75th Anniversary Edition." The motor housing is painted blue instead of being polished, but then, so are the other 601's and 602's I have seen. Hopefully I'll be able to get some pictures taken & posted soon. And Christine, you're right--it IS all good! Jeff |

I guess what I was getting at is the nozzle on the 75th anniversary model looks far more rounded that say an 88X or 99X series upright. |

But there are several models that have the more rounded nozzle, including the 153, 189, 601, 602, 606, 801 Royals, and the 285 Electro-Hygiene. There may be a few other models with the rounded nozzle, but these are the ones I know of. All these models also have a bolted-on headlight (except for the 153, which has NO headlight) instead of the flip-up headlight like an 880 or 903. Jeff |
