I've already posted that on this forum...

...it's crazy! Even more annoying because it's one of the few I don't have yet. I paid FAR less for my Model 541 itself, and that's a damn rare machine over here.

At first I thought the seller'd just put an extra digit in the price by accident, but it seems sadly not to be the case.

I haven't contacted him to suggest lowering the price because can imagine his response!

It seems like the 541 manual has become a very common thing since I got mine. Now I know I got very lucky, but I got my 541, attachments, manual, attachments manual, don't forget the belt reminder card, and two Hoover replacement cloth bags (one brown spreader type, one gray slide and spring type) and the top bid was $5.00.

Given this, I don't think I'd pay much more than $10.00 for a 541 manual. Especialy since I have seen a number of them on ebay and never go for anymore than $10.00.

I don't even think a mint 541 is really worth that much. They're not too hard to find. Even a mint 541, and everything that went with it in 1923 might not even fetch that much. It's really a fairly common machine, but still one of my favorites.

Just saying

He's way out of line on the price for just a manual.

Maybe if it was a pristine like new out of the box humetically sealed model like new
he could be justified at that price...

Of course, I had to send the seller a frothing piece of my mind!!

Now watch someone come along and pay that much for the booklet, and make me look like an idiot!!!!

Crazy People!

Yes, indeed! And some of them reproduce, too! Of course there is always that famous quote from P.T. Barnum: "There's a sucker born every minute!" Could get sold!!
