Hey everyone
I have 2 classic omegas. One has a metal fan empellor the other has plastic white fan. I took both apart to switch empellors. The plastic came off no problem. The one with metal fan is being a pain. I have put he keys screwdriver bits in shaft hole. The fan I jammed with screwdriver on backside and on blade used vice grips to hold. The fan holds but every tool I put in the shaft snaps from over torqueing. The shaft has opening on only one side of shaft not all the way through. I want to save the fan but wtf like it's welded or shaft and fan are one piece of metal. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

These pages from ChicagoMike's copy of the Kirby Classic III service manual will help you.

Just remember: the fan is spun on in reverse, so to get it off you have to turn it clockwise while you hold that fan locking tool in there.

The metal fan is 1 piece, the shaft and fan are one piece. On the Omega and newer models, you need a special tool to hold the armature from turning so you can unthread the fan as 1 piece, without the special tool, you will ruin the armature, don't try holding the cooling fan, it is not secure as it was in previous models.

Les,

Some aspects of rebuilding a Classic 1CR motor unit may be similar to rebuilding a Dual Sanitronic 50/80. I do not have either of these schematics yet, but I do have those for the 516/Sanitronic VII (single-speed motor).
