It's a GE Air-Flo AVT something or other! Just like my parents bought in the 1950's!!!

Gleason is not pressing the power button, but who cares? All in the name of classic slapstick comedy!!! 😀

It's funny they had a vacuum, but not any furniture other than a kitchen table :)

Yeah, I remember that vacuum cleaner from that episode. I bet I haven't seen this in about 35 years. Thanks for posting it.

I remember laughing at those episodes. But now, the implied threat of acceptable violence towards women makes me queasy and not very laughable anymore.

I do remember an old episode of You Bet Your Life where some older 'spinster' lady absolutely destroyed Groucho Marx. THAT was/is funny!

I kind of agree that Ralph's ongoing threats of violence seem quite disturbing to modern minds. But on the other hand, Alice seems like quite a strong, confident, realistic women compared to the not-so-smart husband who got duped into buying a broken vacuum. She comes off as the hard-working smart one of the two who is making the best of her marriage to this buffoon of a husband.

She is strong & intelligent, married to a loudmouth buffoon. Obviously she's trapped in a dead-end marriage with a suitcase full of broken Ralph promises.

I don't know if the show's intent was to embellish on white, ghetto poverty of the time or just to entertain. Seems almost like a cautionary tale for people about to be married with no real future.
