Was browsing the great vacs web site, this really is an awesome company, they sell reconditioned high end vacuums at really good prices. I'm wondering what the difference is between these aerus-electrolux models, do they all use the same motor, are the attachments different? First there is the Electrolux 6500

Then there is the ambassador

Next we have the Electrolux 2100

Then there is the lux 2000

And finally there is the Guardian 9000, is this similar to the Guardian Platinum?

All of those are old designs from the early to mid-1980's. The Ambassador is today known as the Classic. It's the same machine as the shown 2100 and 2000 also. Just different cosmetics. The 6500 is today known as the Legacy. The Guardian 9000 is the descendant of the Renaissance which came out in 1993. That machine had trouble with the electronic handle and they switched it to sliders around the time Epic 8000 came out, I believe. Then they just changed the name of the Epic 8000 to Guardian, changed the course of the exhaust air flow, and added the HEPA filter box on the exhaust. The Renaissance used to have an afterfilter below the tool storage compartment where the exhaust was vented somehow. I was never sure how they designed that. There are some other differences in the Guardian and the Platinum. The Guardians were plastic, a suitcase style handle that could fold down, less filtration, and different attachments. The Platinum has a stainless steel coating, has a built in handle that is part of the machine. The Platinum has a different wheel system, a different hose connection system, and of course the electronic controls on the machine.

Hope that helps.
