Your Silverado Special is in excellent shape! I have both the Olympia and Silverado Special, and afaik they were available in different versions until the advent of the plastic bodied Luxes circa 1990. I wonder what cost difference would've been between a Silverado Deluxe and a Silverado Special? Also, did the last Silverado Specials come with a PN-5?

Hi Hershel and Gary :-) Thanks for the compliments on my machine guys ! It would be interesting to find out what the cost difference was between the two, but as we know the Special models were offered as an alternative to buying the more expensive model. I cant recall if the last series of Silverado Specials came with the PN-5 or not but I will ask Doug to see if he would know. Have a great weekend guys and will chat with you soon :-)

I "think" the special didn't come with a PN unless you upgraded......that's what I was told anyway. Just the floor brush et al.

~ I have the "chocolate" version of the Special, called the "Deluxe Special" because it has a cord winder. I got it at an estate sale a couple years ago for "a song." I actually would rather have a cord halo than the cord winder and have been looking for that, along with a cord, ever since I got the machine.
As you can see, it's in beautiful condition other than some loosening of the hose weaving. It looked like it was barely used. The house where the estate was held had thick wall-to-wall carpeting; most likely the people had an upright for the rugs and used the Electrolux for dusting and the few places there were bare floors -- kitchen, bathrooms, etc.
I know of three color-schemes of the Special -- gray (Silverado), brown (Olympia) and off-white (Diamond Jubilee). |

~ P.S. I know that the Model E, the early Model E-A and the Thrift Model had the same motor as the Model LX, but what about later economy models? Did the Model Ls and the Special Models have the same motors as their upper-tier model companions, or were their motors less powerful (maybe single-stage instead of two-stage etc.) I've always wondered about that. |

To my knowledge, the L has the motor from the Turquoise G. The Special has the 1205 motor.
I've had a few L's...one that I'm keeping is from Toby in GA. I've also had 2 of the Special models, in Brown and Gray. Kenny in Tulsa got the brown one, and I've kept the Gray one, to help complete my Silverado lineup. |

The turquoise model L has the same armature and brushes of a 1205 and all the special models through the Silverado have a 1205 motor. The Diamond Jubilee specials have the Lamb style fan housings and smaller armatures. |
