I was thinking about this. Do you have any particular memories growing up of you or your family vacuuming? Did they have a particular day when they would vacuum?

When I was a kid my mom would usually clean house and vacuum on Fridays. It was a busy day for her and she would usually just be finished in time to get me from school. Sometimes she would have to finish after we got home and I would help her finish up. She also would open the windows sometimes.

There was just something nice about coming home to a freshly vacuumed house with fresh air on a Friday afternoon.

Another memory I had was at the holidays. We usually had Christmas dinner at our house and would do a deep cleaning before. I remember helping to vacuum once late on Christmas eve.

dinner. We had dinner in the living room. After dinner, out came the model 67 Convertible, just to 'tidy up' things before the room was put back together.
I also remember, just days before Christmas, I'd come home from school to see the attachments (Ultraflex hose) out. I KNEW things were happening.
My mother usually cleaned and vacuumed on Saturday mornings. My grandmother always cleaned on Fridays, (Model 28). We had a tenant who vacuumed EVERY SINGLE DAY.... starting at one of the house and going and going, (Model 1070). She vacuumed the stairs with her gold Constellation. When I'd visit my aunt in New York City, she'd always ask me to run the vacuum cleaner, (model 70)
The things we remember.......................

I can remember being about three years old and discovering my grandparents Hoover 1010 Convertible. They let me vacuum with it every time I came to visit. My grandfather had a powder blue '75 Dodge Dart Sport and he kept a G.E. AVC-815 to vacuum to clean it out. I remember being so upset to find out they threw the G.E. away. They kept the hose and attachments though so I used to play with those.

When I was about three or four, we had a maid who came on Tuesdays and Thursdays. She would vacuum the house with our pink and gray Lewyt. The funny thing was she'd plug the machine in downstairs connect every extension cord in the house to it so she could do the whole house without unplugging and re-plugging the machine. Devil that I was, I'd run around and unplug the cords.
