Lots of collector's like to give the Hoover DAM flack. Anyone who knows me well enough, knows I still think their the biggest thing since sliced bread!
I picked up this 1178 DAM today for $10. I gave the motor a thorough rebuild, cleaning the fans, greasing the ball bearing, and oiling the sleeve bearing. I also put in a Quadraflex brushroll, and WOW this is an even more AMAZING cleaner!

Up first the machine...fairly clean. Its been in a vac shop window for years.

The rear of the machine. Note the tape on the cord...a bad habit of the DAM is eating its own cord in attachment mode...luckily it has not reached bare wire, only rubbed the insulation.

I will try and tape a YouTube video.of it this weekend.
Here is the Quadraflex agitator in it. Had to replace the bearings and one endcap to use it in here.
