They ARE....

for the most part in exquisite condition! Those are mostly my favorite Lux's...the ones you've been picturing. The Super J in spite of its color scheme is historically significant because of the big motor and the retooling that the plant did for it.

You can still find a lot of vintage Lux's on Craigslist depending on your area. If you live in an area where there were a lot of Lux salesmen back in the day, you're in. I'm right on the cuff...northern ID had a really strong dealer showing, while here in eastern WA we did not.  Still, northern ID is reachable to me driving....if the price is right.

Hi Kevin :-) Thanks again for your feedback ! I take pride in taking care of my machines and there is still a lot I'm learning about Electrolux , the history , the mechanics , etc. :-) I grew up during the Electrolux 1205 and Super J era. They were some of my favorite machines growing up. It's great to be able to find and preserve these vacs. Thanks too for the tips re Craigslist , and yes it all depends on the area that you live in. Lets stay in touch :-)

Keith

Keith,

Also if you don't know this....there are carbon filters that fit down the bag recess to the bottom on the 1205 onward. They are supposed to help with the bag content smell, but they also work as a secondary filter before the motor. Someone said they are washable too.

If I had the room, I'd keep buying Diamond J's. They seem to be plentiful and I can restore one easily in an afternoon, in normal used condition.

Kevin
