I had posted previously that Tom A. Sent me a never used model 33 Convertible for my birthday. After sitting on a shelf in the Hoover vault for 44 years the poor thing needed greasing desperately, so today I finally had a chance to get it done. It pained me to take it apart, so I was super careful and gentle removing screws.
Following are a few pics I snapped of the insides. Its absolutely spotless!
First the money shot...

pristine, and not even broken in yet!
Note the green covering over the speed switch wires, which matched model 69!

The reason I love the 33 so much is...

because I grew up with one. My parents bought theirs in January of 1964, when they moved into their first house. My earliest memories of a vacuum cleaner are tied to that model 33.
Here they are together, my mom's cleaner on the right.
Stunning aren't they?

more to come...

I posted a video of the now greased and purring model 33 on YouTube. Once it processes I will post a link...

I grew up with the 33 bought by my folks at Polk Brothers around the same time. What a color. What a machine. Thanks for sharing. Another thing you and I have in common.

video finished....

Have a listen to some beautiful Hoover music!!!

Camelot: almost every Hoover upright made after WWII needs grease in three bearings: Lower motor(under the fan) and the two agitator bearings. The exceptions are the Dial a Matics, Concepts and Elites, which only need agitator bearings greased.

What a great birthday gift, and how nice of Tom to give it to you! Like Fred and Christine said, I love the color scheme. I remember seeing them at the O'neill's store in Mansfield when I was a kid. They always had a nice Hoover display with Convertibles and Connies, Floor Polishers, and later, Portables, Slimlines, and Dial-a-matics.
