This is my Electrolux Model 1521 from either the Legacy or Grand Marquis Series. I confused this machine with the Ultralux series as they have the same color schemes. The naming convention became even more confusing when they came out with another Marquis ( 1987 ) but this one was brown with a sand color trim. I believe that this was the beginning of the end of the Electrolux that most of us grew up with.

I am real bad at getting those confused with the Legacy series as well, as they do appear to be VERY similar in color. I have one of the sand colored Marquis models myself and while it's a great running machine, I find I don't use it very often! Most of the time, I catch myself reaching for one of my older (and slightly quieter running) Olympia's or Silverado's for vacuuming! You are correct, for those of us that really like the metal-bodied Electrolux vacuums, these and the Ultralux were the end of that era. Speaking of the Ultralux 1521's here are my two all-time favorite models that I consider the heart of my Electrolux collection!

I can relate to the use of the Olympia and Silverado. These are two of my other favorites! Electrolux blundered with using the same color scheme for three ( Legacy , Grand Marquis, and Ultralux ) differently signatured series. They also blundered with re-adopting the " Marquis " signature again for the Brown / Sand colored model. I love the Commemorative edition and I hope to have one in my collection some day ! very nice machines - two at that !!

Oh yes. The commemorative edition. The very first one I ever saw was at the Electrolux factory, when I was president of the VCCC. I arranged for the entire club to tour the Electrolux factory in Bristol, Tennessee. My best friend, Clay Floyd, and I walked the entire factory with the president of the company, as well as the head of the engineering department. The previous models were all behind the glass. When we came to the commemorative edition, I was informed that there were three or four models left that had never been awarded. I begged him for one of them for the club. That was approximately 17 years ago, with the old VCCC, Who knows where it is?
Yours are beautiful. One of them, was awarded to Gary Griffin, whom I take my hat off to as a salesman. This man could sell snow to Eskimos, along with a new air-conditioning system, as well as snowcones. He was that good. Your other commemorative addition, I almost feel as if I knew it personally. As if it had passed through my hands at some point. It is gorgeous. Congratulations.

Keith, that's a beautiful Electrolux Grand Marquise you have there. Looks very minty! :-)
Just so you know, that powerhead is not original though. That is originally from a Electrolux 2100, from somewhere between 1984 to 1986, & is most likely originally from Canada. You can tell by looking at the name plate on top, & Electrolux did not introduce the 2100 till the late 80's in America, & the colors & logos America got were different from the Canadian models. And I can also tell your PN has a replacement base plate & bumper....if that was original, the bumper should be a dark blue. If you don't already have one, you should consider buying a new vinyl hose from Aerus to keep your woven hose in good shape. Plus, the new hoses are much easier to use. Hi Rob and thanks for the feedback ! I appreciate your input. I purchased the unit solo with no attachments, so I matched it up as close as I could. Doug S helped me to identify it , because the Legacy, Ultralux, and Grand Marquis are all the same color. I don't know what Electrolux was thinking. Anyhow the machine pumps ! And yeah I need to preserve my fabric hoses as best as possible. Thanks again for the feedback! By the way. I'm in the market for a two piece metal filter for my CB2000. It came with a filter kit back in day. If you have any info on where I could snag one, please let me know!
