The question was 'best looking vacuum EVER made'. Ever being the key word. There are a number of machines in my collection that I could describe that way, but I think the most beautiful is my Brand New In The Box, 1994 Rainbow Special Edition with Performance Edition Power Nozzle. It's stunning.

As they say....
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.....like Tom, I have several vacuum cleaners that I personally feel are absolutely BEAUTIFUL! That NIB Rainbow is indeed a gorgeous machine! The most beautiful machine I own (in my opinion) actually came from Tom Gasko, so I have him to thank for it! My contribution is my unused Electrolux UltraLux Commemorative Edition sans award plaque (as it was never awarded to anyone).

I almost forgot how stunning the Commemorative Edition Electrolux was.
The first time I ever saw one in person, was at the Electrolux factory in Bristol. I was President of the old VCCC then, and organized the Convention that year. I got to walk around with the CEO of Electrolux, and we happened upon a display that included the Commemorative Edition. I asked (in a very persuasive way) for a Commemorative Edition to be donated to the old VCCC. I still have photos of us unboxing it. The club was much, much different in those days - we had a blast with the new-to-all-of-us machine that evening. I have had nothing to do with the VCCC for more than a decade, so I don't know what ever became of that machine. The one you have was actually the machine that I got from current President of North American Sales for Aerus, Rich Luisi. It had never been awarded, and was the last one they had in stock. I almost cried the day it left my hands for yours, but I KNEW it would be in excellent hands. Congrats on what I believe to be one of the most beautiful vacuums ever built. | ||

Saniway was fist named Kingston , then Germatron, Saniway and later sold as Royal. Made in Bronson, Michigan by Douglas Manufacturing. Great Machine. | ||

Sptyks Now that Classic III is the best Kirby I have seen so far. Wish Kirby would still add some color like that. I like the look of the Avalir, but some dark red would help the look even more. | ||

By Hoover or Elux.
Hoover 63, Hoover 800, Hoover 825, or Electrolux LX. I just love that streamlined look and cool motor cap on the 800 series. I am lucky enough to have a nearly mint 800... Only problem is I need a aromador belt plate for it. That boxy and streamlined combination of the LX just astonishes me. I love it. Only downfall is poor suction even though everything is working/rebuilt/serviced. The 63 just amuses me for no reason. I don't know if its the hood or what.

I have three favorites. None of them are all that new. Lol. The Kirby Tradition, Kirby Classic III, and the Kirby 505. Something about the primitive styling of the thing that just catches my eye.

That was a standard, two fan, double ball bearing, Lamb motor by Ametek. Eureka used it on many cleaners in the 1950's and 1960's including the 'canned ham' and the 'roto-matic'. Filter Queen used it. Compact used it. Sears used it. Kingston used it. Whirlpool used it. Air-Way used it (beginning with the model 88). By the 1970's, even Sunbeam used it. Apex started using it for the lower end models. Lewyt used it in all their machines, until the unfortunate sell off to Shetland. The irony is all these machines had the same amount of suction - because they used the same motor.
Electrolux made their own motors. So did Hoover, although the Hoover canister motor of that time period were kind of wimpy (comparatively). Hamilton Beach made their own motors, as did Westinghouse. Universal made their own motors as well. | ||

Best sounding I like the sound of the Electrolux XXX. The Eureka Princess canister was a very pleasant sounding machine. I am very fond of the Royal 880. A great cleaner, not a screamer. The Hoover convertible is very pleasant sounding, more vroom, than eeeekkkk. | ||

Kirby Classic 3 and Philips P74 Electronic
My ultimate most beautiful upright is lovely Kirby Classic III
Just all that shine and presence. I am not so fan of G-series. I try to find one from the US that is rebuilt. Then I need voltage converter from 220v to 110v. Most beautiful canister award goes to the Philips P74 Electronic. I was very lucky to find one. It's a mid 80's flagship Philips model with a swivel top. Just love the shape and it has the most smooth sounding motor what I have ever heard. It was expensive when new and it has also very good airflow for a old canister. 93 cfm from the hose end. | ||

What a difficult question to answer as everyone is going to have their own opinion on what looks nice. I really like the look of the blue Kirby (can't remember the model), the Miele upright is quite good looking, I think the Sebo D4 is a nice looking machine. I also like the Sebo Felix. Not only nice looking but a very unique design. The Kirby Heritage II is a handsome machine and the Avalair has a nice look to it. Generally, I like Miele canisters for their looks.

Me being an art deco fan, the E-Lux XXX has the best looking floor tools, then Compact, as is their little piggy hammered metal canister design. I'm also partial to colors of blue, deep reds like burgundy, and turquoise. | ||
