I had a bonus day today. Firstly I hit Value Village to no avail and then hopped on the bike and motored over to the Goodwill whereupon I found another Braun food processor just like the mint one I found a couple of weeks ago. This one isn't mint but it has the part to hold the slicing disks that was missing from the previous one. I never thought I'd get that part, whew. Plus a later model GE handmixer. Happy as a pig in $A#$A# I then motored over to another thrift store where for the last year they have had a "store use only" Electrolux AP280 sitting in the back room taunting me mercilessly. Well today I asked the old gent if he had any more old vac parts, they keep them for me now, and he walked me over to the the AP280 and asked if I wanted it for $20. What luck because it's in great shape and has most of the pieces including the manual and attachment carrying case. The twenty was in his hand in a flash I raced home on the bike, grabbed the truck and it's mine LOL This one has a different powernozzle than my other one and doesn't detach from the metal portion of the wand like the other one. The nozzle also makes some noise so I'm going to have to take it apart and clean it out.

Oh and to top it off while we were in the back room looking for anything else that may be laying about...there on the workbench was another rare hard to find bowl for the Braun KM32 kitchen machine, the large bowl in good clean shape. I needed another one of those because the bowl on one of my Brauns has sort of yellowed with age.

Lucky you, you got that whole beautiful vacuum for $20.00! What a deal! I went to Vero Beach and found a Model G Hamilton Beach, and a Kenmore Magicord in woodgrain, rust and beige, with all the tools, no powerhead. $1.00 for the mixer, $10.00 for the vacuum. And 25 cents for three new bags.

What a great Lux find, with all the tools and manual too!
Lucky you! Congratulations

Pete, I am always amazed at what you find! For $20.00 I would say that you got a really great deal. It looks to be in good shape as well.

The AP280 is the first new vacuum that I ever purchased ...that was back in 1981 when I was living in Toronto. It looked exactly like the one you have Pete. I remember going to the Lux dealer, buying the vacuum and taking it home in the unopened box. I paid $425 for it. It was a 2 speed model with the automatic control, red bad full light and a green power light to indicate the vacuum was plugged in. When I bought my Lux 6500 in 1999 I gave the 280 to the dealer in exchange. I should have kept it.

AP280/Olympia

It looks like the AP280 was the Canadian version of the Olympia One. Did they share the same motors and suction? It looks like they kept the PN2 version of the power nozzle, when did the Canadian Luxes go to the PN4, or did they?

Hi guys - the Ap280 was made 1978-82. While it was out at the same time as the Olympia cleaners in the US they didnt share any common parts. The motor on the Ap280 was also 2 speed.

That is the complete set of parts it came with
