"Micro-Mini" Meet at Casa Electrolux

Today my friend Roger Chaussée -- a pipe organ & piano technician and vacuum cleaner collector from Riverside, California -- came over to Casa Electrolux with his friend Michael to help me go through my workshop.

He found quite a few things that tickled his fancy and went home with his SUV jam-packed! All the machines in these photos are ones that he took except for the Kirby Legend II.

He brought me quite a treasure, a 64-note stage piano from the 1940s made by the LESTER Piano Company of Philadelphia. The keyboard has 24 fewer notes than a standard 88-note keyboard.

I made lunch -- ham, egg & cheese sourdough paninis and a tossed salad, washed down with fresh lemonade.

We worked out thee most of the day but barely made a dent in the stuff....... which, I have to say, is pretty depressing. Despite all the stuff he took, it really doesn't look much different in there.

He's coming back next week for Round Two for more machines and to find attachments for the tanks and canisters he took home today.

After a nap and quiet time in the afternoon, Arlee made dinner -- curried chicken and vegetables with rice.

Later on, we went down to my church where Roger went through the entire pipe organ and made an assessment of the problems plaguing it, mostly a lot of dead notes.

Checkrate/Likes *micro mini meet* It does look like a great time of treasures coming and going. With the exception of the Eatonic tank and the exact models of Westinghouse and Eureka uprights the same vacs that found a new home on the west coast can be found HERE in the east.My old building WILL BE EMPTIED this year.(More on this later in the spring.)So I can--A-Beg collectors to come and collect.Or-B-Walk down the street in my town and have metal scrappers beg me to let them bring a truck.Which will it be?!?

Checkrate/Likes ~ ~ Jimmy, I know how you feel. I pleaded numerous times for people to come here for a big get-together, but for one reason or another no one was able to make it happen. Then Roger pretty much dropped from the sky out of nowhere. I'm glad that some of my machines found a new home and hope he'll take more home next week. There are big changes on the distant horizon for Arlee and me. We need to start preparing now, and getting my collection thinned down has been top on the list of priorities.

Checkrate/Likes I've tried and tried as well to give stuff away, set up mini meets, to no avail so quite a few have gone to the dump or back to thrift stores. I couldn't even force Gary to take any this morning when he popped in for the first time on his way home from Kansas and the visit to the vac museum with Tom LOL.
