Following up on my post about my Eureka turbo brush failing on me, I decided to post this.

About a month ago, after getting as much hair out of the turbine as I could, I tried using the Eureka turbo brush again. It took a little while for the brush to accelerate, but then it spun at full speed! I thought I was back in business. But then...

The tool worked fine, but then halfway through cleaning the stairs, it died on me again! So I took apart the tool, tried digging out any more hair, put it back together, and now it's pretty much dead. The brush spins very slowly and then comes to a complete stop.

Fast forward to today, and I came up with a hack I've been wanting to try for a while. What if the turbo brush from my Hoover WindTunnel 2 Rewind Pet could work with my Eureka AirSpeed Unlimited Rewind without any modification whatsoever?

So I tried it, and sure enough, the Hoover turbo brush fits on the end of the Eureka's hose! It won't fit on the end of the extension wand, however.

I turned on the Eureka, and the Hoover tool spins so fast and doesn't bog down, even when pressed! I vacuumed the stairs, and it performed beautifully! My stairs look amazing now.

So has anybody tried using another brand's attachments on a vacuum without modification? If so, how well did they work?

I've used the attachments from my Eureka Mighty Mite on the Shop Vac for cleaning out the car, worked really well.

I use a Kenmore dusting brush with my mom's Electrolux Ultra Silencer Green canister because it is the softest brush available. I also bought an adapter so it could be used with Miele C3 FreshAir.

using other attachments

Sure, this is very common. Many vacuums and attachments are interchangeable, and as long as the hose is a standard size, this is no problem. And, thanks to the popularity of central vacuums, you can buy many attachments and these will also work with portable vacuums. The main issue is the size of the hose end. For most vacuums, it's 32 MM, or 1-1/4 inches. This has been the industry standard for some time, and for those hoses that are a different size, adapters are available. I guess that would be considered a modification, but it's a very simple one. The hose ends on Miele and Sebo vacuums are slightly larger, but adapters are available for both that allow you to use the standard attachments. Some electrolux vacuums use a square hose end, but again, an adapter is available to deal with that. I actually will not purchase any vacuum unless it uses the standard hose size, or can be made to do so with an adapter, otherwise you are too limited in the attachments you can use. The new Kenmore vacuums use a nonstandard hose end, and as far as I know, there is no adapter available for them, so I definitely will not be getting one of those. Some of the Tacony vacuums also use the same hose size as Miele which is 35 mm in size. In some cases, using different attachments than what is included with a vacuum can improve the cleaning performance quite a bit. Several of my vacuums included one of those tools that let you switch from carpets to hard floors by switching a pedal. I'm not a fan of these, the brush is too short, and for carpets you need a spinning brush. Fortunately I have several hard floor brushes in my attachment collection, and I always use one of those.
I'm not surprised to hear that your turbo brush quit, that's very common because everything that is vacuumed goes through the turbine. Electric brushes are much better, there's really no comparison. And speaking of electric nozzles, it's also possible to use a different power nozzle than the one that comes with most canister vacuums that have electric hoses.

I am able to use many of my Kirby Sentria attachments on my Royal Everlast 8300  by putting an adapter at the end of the Royal hose. Works like a charm.

This is pure anarchy.

I'm scared .... yet weirdly attracted ....for I..... have never ..... ventured into such a realm.

I use my heritage turbo brush on my cxl and in my rainbow.
I do use rainbow floor tool on my cxl. The froor tool put at correct angle cleans the top blade of fans perfectly. It's soft horsehair doesn't bounce with vibration.
I use my Kirby tools on my cxl when vacuuming vehicles.
I like Hoover's mini pet brush.

I use my Sebo ET1 powerhead with all of my canisters.
I just needed adapters to do it.

One of the oddballs of my collection is an old metal Eureka canister that I use with an 1205 era electrified wand and PN4 power nozzle for an Electrolux. Everything connects up almost like it was made for it. I just had to push the locking button out of the way on the handle of the hose. I also have an Electrolux branded turbo brush I use with it as well as some Kirby tools.

I use attachments from other vacuums all the time. The swivel dusting brush from my 70s Kenmore canister works great on my Eureka Mighty Mite. I also use the dusting brush from another Kenmore canister I had on my shop vac.

I've bought a few 'adapters'

from Hoover. This enables one to use the vintage tools on modern machines. I imagine you could do that with 'others'. But, I don't have any 'others'.

I think your Hoovers' would be allergic to anything not Hoover. Tried and true no "others" allowed.
