 I know we've had quite a few threads about Daily Drivers, but it's time for a new one. What machines do you seem to reach for the most? Are there only specific things you use them for? I'm sure the results will be pretty interesting. I put it in Vintage since that's what I almost always use. Thoughts? Andy | ||

Dial-A-Matic 1110 Here is one i have a soft spot in my heart for. Lots of collectors will give a DAM Flack but I think their some of the best machines out there. My Great-Great-Aunt had a 1100 back in the day, and she also had a Sunbeam Dual Deluxe (I have the tool hanger), GE Roll Easy, and a Self Propelled Eureka. The DAM Dominated her bright orange Shag in the living room. This is one I rebuilt myself, including new carbon brushes, oiling the sleeve bearing, and greasing the ball bearings in the motor and brushroll. I swapped the brushroll for a Reverse Helix with White Strips and installed a HEPA pre-motor filter. This specific machine came from Jeff Parker. I'm having a new decal made for the front to clean up the look. A

The FABULOUS Hoover 150 This is possibly my FAVORITE Vacuum of All time. I hunted one for 10 years before I received this one from Charlie Watrous and Owen Perkins. Charlie rebuilt it a few years back. I replaced the bag for a DVC shakeout fitted with a C-bag. I replaced the Brush Inserts with NOS ones from (the now closed) Weisheimers and replaced the broken belt pulley with a used one from Chris at CS Vacuum. I adore this machine, and highly suggest finding one if you haven't already. This one is limited to being used in my bedroom only as it has a strong odor of Carbon Dust. A

My go to is my Compact C9 or my Electrolux AP 200
The c9 is for the living room dinning area and carpets the lux more for bedroom as its hose is longer and power head smaller i alternate between the 2

My go to has been my recently acquired like new vita vac. The rainbow E2 black gets used for shampooing ( did that today) and when I have guests over my house gets a go through with it as well as running it on quiet to keep the air clean.

They're all my daily drivers!! (picture I took awhile ago of my collection; Missing the yellow/brown Hoover Portable, Hoover model 725, and Hoover Brush Vac)
Since my collection is reasonably sized, I usually switch around machines. Helps keep the grease and oil circulating. For carpets I usually prefer a machine with a headlight as there are countless dimly lit areas around the house. However I bring out the ol coffee can machines every now and then, more recently the Hoover model 725. The Electrolux model G and Portable are used on our all tile ranch home. G being used on hard floors whereas the Portable is used on furniture. (Cleans really well with its rubber finger upholstery nozzle.) -Alex

Electro-Hygiene 903
I try to rotate my machines to an extent, but I tend to reach for one of my Electro-Hygiene 903's more than any. I actually have 4 of them, but one is out on loan and of the other 3 I usually grab this one. Any of them are powerful, durable, maneuverable, and do a pretty good job of grooming the carpet as well. I frequently use the attachments as the attachment suction is great for an upright.

But If I HAD to keep just one machine of each type, It would be, My 1968 Tan G Electrolux for a tank, The Saniway for a canister and my all time favorite Royal 801 upright. | ||

Lately, I've been giving my Diamond J a workout, mainly because it's the most recently added to my collection so the 'new' hasn't worn off for me yet. I'm not fond of the PN5 that came with it so I've been playing mix-n-match with other Electrolux power nozzles to find my favorite combination with this machine, which right now seems to be my PN2. I did get a new brush roll for my PN4-A, which I will be installing this afternoon. I'm hopeful that will improve its performance.
Aside from that machine, I usually reach for my G5 'FrankenKirby' if I'm in the mood to use an upright or my blue Royal Prince handheld for small cleanups above floor level. I have attachment sets for all three of my Kirbys but they're enough of a pain to use that I generally ignore them in favor of the equivalent tools on my Electrolux canisters. | ||

This Royal fan uses a Kirby Legend II nearly every weekend to vacuum the living room, dining room, and den downstairs.

Most used for me Kirby Avalirs,Royal metal,MD Silentmaster and 650 Central vacuums,Volt power nozzle,Simplicity Freedom cordless,'Lux Platinum Guardian,New TriStar used with the Volt,same with the Lux.So lots to choose from for me. | ||

At the moment it's the Miele S 194 upright. Very practical in use if you clean up the kitchen after cooking or dinner and very strong suction. For the weekly clean up I use the Nilfisk GM 80. In my atelier, the Miele S 381 makes a good job and there I keep also my all time favorit vacuum Hoover 1354A junior de luxe and my newest acquirement, a Tornado BE 5 from the 60ties (my mothers first vacuum).

 My most used vacs or Daily Drivers are my Kirby G3 and Sentria.
I keep my Kirby D50 plugged in all the time as I use it for quick pickups. The cord reaches 90% of my spacious apartment.
Occasionally I also use my Kirby Heritage II Legend and my Royal Everlast 8300 just to keep them in good running condition.
I will soon be getting a Kirby Classic III that will join in the rotation once I have completely gone thru it and checked it out. It was supposedly refurbished by a Kirby dealership not long ago.

My Kirby Heritage II! Love to use it on the carpet. It's therapeutic. Is it just me being weird or do other people calm down when using a Kirby? Heck,just taling about it makes me want to use it right now!!

Go to My daily drivers in the house are a Rainbow E2 "blue" and a Kirby Sentria. It isn't uncommon for me to pull out a vintage Electrolux for general cleaning, though. | ||

Use the most....
For house cleanings, I've been taking my Simplicity Verve a lot lately. It has HEPA filtration, variable speeds and parts are still made for it, as it's my newest vac.
For cleaning my house, I tend to choose from a variety of power nozzle canisters. Lately I've getting into my newest additions-- 2 Panasonics the most. The 2nd picture is about 2 months old and doesn't have my most recent Panasonic. But it shows most of my power nozzles. | ||
