Today was quite eventful. I got a free Kirby Legend II from a dumpster and a Hoover Elite II for $20 at a flea market. Both run beautifully, and the Kirby runs spectacularly! I'd say today's my lucky day!!!

I have a few elites, But they are all hard bag machines, I would love to get a soft bag, but they were never sold here like that.

Wait. You have a hardbag? I could not find any mention of a hardbag Elite anywhere online. I have one too. Can you post pics?

Me too. I saw a G5 at a recycling center once but I was unable to rescue it. :(

Well at least...

At least it was something as common as a G5. There were many of those produced

Nice save! That's how I got my first Kirby. One of my Electrolux 1205s was also a trash find back in the early '80s. It's absolutely amazing what people will throw away. I saw another Kirby by the road a few months ago but I was running late to work and traffic was too heavy for me to double back, so I had to let it go. It was an older machine, maybe a Classic. It was gone, as I knew it would be, when I headed home that afternoon. I really hope somebody else was able to snag it before the garbage truck got there. Oh well, ya can't save 'em all.

I have found a few kirbys in dumpsters,But apart from one or two legend ii,s the rest are g series. One g3 but it really was knackered, Two g6 in perfect condition, one even came with all its attachments, a g5 , and a lot of sentria,s. always a bit shocked that people dump these but I suppose at the end of the day its just a vacuum thats in some ones way. I know that when I do a clean up I realize I can post lots of the stuff i throw away on gumtree but I want it gone now so i dump it.

The only dejected Kirby I spotted was a "classic" model-Brown left on the curb with its attachments.I was riding home from work on the bus was going to grab it when I got off at my stop.Someone else beat me to it!The Kirby was gone by the time I got there. It was with a pile of trash to be picked up by the trash truck. At least it must have found another home-or worse-a scrapper-but did escape the "pressing' fate in a trash truck.

People....

throw valuable, decent stuff away because they are lazy. They "don't have time" to dispose of it properly(like to someone who would appreciate it). Easier to dumpster it and walk away....just that simple. Before there was craigslist & eBay it was even a lot worse.

You'd probably lose your mind to know all the valuable stuff sent intentionally to the dump. And some of it fully functional...but the owners got "tired" of it. Don't get me started....lol.

Great find BTW!

Kevin

Very nice find Mrs.Doubtfire would be pleased!(always wanted that model because of the movie). I found a Heritage II in a dumpster many years ago. Makes you wonder how if they bought it new could they just throw it in the trash like that.

Ever notice that she is actually getting suction through the hose and not the floor nozzle? Take a look at this picture. Poor woman was probably thinking "Why isn't this vacuum working!"
