Yesterday I came across another great Goodwill outlet store find, a Royal 4150 in outstanding condition. I already have a nice 4600, but this was too exceptional to pass up, especially when it was offered to me for $9.00! It is free of dents and scratches, and with the help of Mothers metal polish, the two plastic floor nozzles and dusting brush restored nicely. The motors runs like new with no bearing noise, and the suction is very strong! The only down side is that it is missing the matching upholstery and crevice tools in gray. The hunt begins!

The 4150 seems to have had a long production run. This one was built in August of 1997 according to the serial number. Anybody familiar with this model? Was it actually sold as a commercial model? The 3 way power cord is heavy duty like those on Royal commercial uprights.

Mike

Mike,

Yes, the 4150 was indeed sold to the commercial market. You are correct this machine has a 3-wire grounded cord. It's also cool about the $9 price tag!

I used to have one of these-but sold it------Now I wished I KEPT it!!!GREAT VACUUM!!!!!ROYAL TOUGH!!!!But--DON'T use single layer bags in it-this and other similar Royal "torpedos" will suck the dirt right thru a single layer bag or even pop it!Would be fun to use a Volt with this. The one I had didn't have a powernozzle-had the usual hand tools and two floor tools-one for carpet-other for hard floors.

Oh no...

That makes two vacuums mentioned that we are being advised not to use the 1 ply vacuum bags. Airway and now Royal tank.

Hive mind, what are the others or should I say, should we not ever use singly ply bags in any vacuums?

Just don'tuse single ply bags in modern vacuums with the new higher powered motors. Its time the single ply and other paper bags be retired in favor of the "Filtrete" type bags.
