There are times when I want to de-stress by pulling out a vacuum and giving it some love. I bought this Hoover Convertible U4497-900 oh maybe a couple of years ago off of Ebay at what I thought was a decent price for a vac in decent condition. When it came, I looked it over and ran it. Indeed, it was very clean under the hood, the brushroll was clean and in good shape, and the bag and cord had no flaws, and the motor ran smoothly. I put it aside into my collection.

So, the other day when the weather was crappy, I pulled out the vac to give it some attention. I washed the cloth outer bag (it really needed it), cleaned the cord to make it bright white again, and polished the hood. As pictures show, the former owner was less than careful, as the hood has it's share of scuffs. That really bothers me when people are not careful with vacuums they paid money for and abuse them. I was not too aggressive with the polishing as I did not want to rough up the hood any more than it is. I guess there's a way to rub out those scuffs, but I hesitate to try.

I installed a genuine Hoover HEPA bag. As it turns out, I'm pretty happy with this vacuum. It has plenty of power, cleans well, and grooms the carpet nicely. I said, where have you been all this time my little beauty? I have other convertibles, but this one is a good one.

To complement my convertible line for above-the-floor cleaning, the Porta Power unit has good suction and is easy to tote around. I have a full set of attachments. I have paper bags for it, but right now I'm using the cloth bag for good airflow. Hoover was really on to something when they made the Convertibles and the Porta Power vacs.
