Well you know the Super J had the longer shell, and larger motor than the 1205.
The Silverado canister carried on the tradition, but had something better ...

Electrolux made the hole in the canister where the motor goes - larger to accomodate a 5.7" motor, they also made the hole circular.
This change makes the Silverado & later shells in my mind more versatile, since they can accomodate old & new motors, as well as any aftermarket upgrades.

This means all the older motors will fit the Silverado & newer shells as well as the later ones. This also means the later motors, and any 5.7" motors will not fit in the older shells (Olympia One & earlier).

The fan housings for any of the Diamond Jubilee & up motors are larger and will not fit the shells prior to the Silverado.

Question

djtaylor's profile picture
I have a 1205, needs a complete overhaul, but if I wanted to replace the motor...what motor should I use? I'd like a little more power, but if there is only one motor that will fit, I guess I won't get more power.
HELP!!

The motors on these are pretty durable.
Here is a thread explaining how to rebuild properly:
1969 Electrolux 1205 motor question

Since the opening is smaller, a 5.1 single stage motor will fit.
However, you need an adapter plate to mount it.
Here is an example:

The motor is usually an Electro Motor that is rebranded. (There are two that will work)
The better one is 9.8 watts, and 420 peak air watts.

This vendor sells rebadged Electro Motors, as do others

Look for LH5081-120
