This is the first time I have seen of any thing like this. Over the years the standard floor nozzle has always been used. I vacuum my mattress with the floor nozzle. Being as my mattress has a button less & smooth finish I leave the agitator engaged rather than disengaged for straight suction. Works great and after over 30 years, no signs of wear or tear from being vacuumed.

This is an after-market gizmo. The apparatus in front of the rug nozzle contains an ultra-violet lamp. Hence the red on/off switch. So "supposedly" the ultra-violet light kills the bed bugs and other vermin in the mattress and the ultra strong suction and brushing of the Kirby sweeps it all up into the bag. It is a handheld item only; no upright handle and no being able to remove the nozzle front and using it as a household vacuum. These were profiled in the VDTA magazine at some time in the past.

A company "Hygenetec" made these sort of cleaners-A Kirby with the UV light fixture on it.The nwer Hygenetec c leaners have the upright handle so it could be used to "sanitize" carpets as you vacuum them.the kit costs something like 12 grand-you buy the "franchise" so you can start the business of cleaning folks matteresses.
