Hey there Vacuumland, old Jae here again to share my new find!

This past weekend I happened to be in the company of my good friend and fellow collector Phillip Muller, and we were on a thrifting expedition, and we ran across this what appeared to be a Electro Hygiene, for $6.00 and tax. Phillp was extremely kind, and generous to purchase it and gift it to me!=) So come to find out in collaboration with Ben Edge (Thank you for your help and invaluable information), it was made in 1973.

Now, come to find out is actually a Royal model 801, with a EH bag. But, never fear! I am going to paint the blue Adjust.O.Rite cap red, and keep it as it is. It is a pretty good shape, just buried under a coat of patina and dirt.  I will post some post restoration pics, when the time comes..=)

Jae,

You are quite welcome!

BTW - here's a red Adjust-O-Rite plate if you ever want one.

I am glad you are there to help me Ben....

It seems you are the ONLY one whom took interest in this thread. I thought there were others on this forum that liked Royal...

I don't believe I've noticed this thread before. That is a pretty snazzy looking Royal. It will defiantly be better looking eight he cap painted red. I always was partial to the Blue bag Royals, but this one has a certain charm to it!

801

Royal is my all time favorite upright, I wouldn't trade mine for all the others combined.

Jae,

No problem! I recently saw two red Adjust-O-Rite plates on eBay, both of them for $25!

Hi Jae,

hygiene903's profile picture
Nice 801 you have there, and you can't beat the price! Royals and Electro-Hygienes make up the biggest part of my collection. The 801 is definitely a Royal, the Electro-Hygiene equivalent would be the model 285. Kind of unusual to see a Royal with an Electro-Hygiene bag, usually it's the other way around, as EH bags are generally harder to find than Royal bags. A little elbow grease and some Mother's Mag and it will be absolutely beautiful!
Here are pics of my 801's. The one with the blue bag was built in 1974, the one with the beige bag was built in 1975, and the one with the unusual "side-saddle" bag was built in the early 1960s.
