I think you would get good results if you used paste cleaner wax. I got good results with this.

I have no tips on polish, but I have that same vacuum and it works very well. It's the only vacuum I use on my carpets anymore. I didn't like it at first but now I do. It has a nice sound and is lightweight and really cleans well. I use the Arm & Hammer bags in it and they work really well and don't have to change them often.

An amazingly-simple yet highly effective vacuum cleaner. Highly-rated for excellent deep carpet cleaning by Consumer Reports in the early 1990's - maybe even a Best Buy because I remember advising a friend to get it at Sears on a visit to suburban Detroit in 1991. I think the bill came to $120 with attachments!
Eureka. The very best in vacuum cleaners. Those were the days, my friends. |

I have had one of those, just to try. It has the wooden brush roll with beater bars. 5 amp I believe. My problem with it besides the 20 ft cord was the light weight. The 2000 Series had weight which helped groom better even if you tried the wooden brush roll in it, the 5 amp groomed ok, but not as well as a 3.5 amp 2000 Series. With that said, I would take one of those any day over any Walmart vacuum......

For most of Eureka's fan-first uprights, the company offered an optional tool set. You attach what is known as a "pan" converter to the metal bottom brush guard under the front of the motor head, and it grabs all available suction and sends it into a hose for use with attachments. The pan converter has a little wheel to let the vac roll while you pull on the hose. Airflow is not the strongest, but enough to do lots of above-the-floor cleaning. You can even enhance the basic tool set by buying Eureka wands and a nice bare floor brush for light dusting of bare floors. Any standard brand of vacuum tools works with the hose as the diameter of the hose end is a standard size.
Ebay has many of these tool sets for sale - most of them unused and brand new in the box. See the link below for a sample: CLICK HERE TO GO TO eurekaprince's LINK on eBay |
