How does it compare to some Shark and Dyson versions?

I have

a genuine Hoover, made in the USA in Canton Ohio back in about 1996. A maroon red two stage 10.5 amp Lamb motor central vacuum.
I've not yet had a cordless vac. I don't really need one. When I clean, I clean with every attachment one can need. I can reach above my kitchen cabinets and dust the crown moldings and tops, use the wonder wand under my range and fridge, behind also. The turbo brush on upholstery, do my bare floors, and area rugs.
Then I just wrap the hose around it's hanger in the closet.

It's really on par with them , it's a great rechargeable vacuum for quick pick ups although some may use it for a daily vacuum .

I own over 400 vacuums and many of Hoovers cordless vacuums which are all top notch .

Being a "true" collector I love to own every vacuum that piques my interest ,do I need them ?
No , I just want all the vacuums my heart desires .

Yeah I agree with you. I've seen your collection pictures you took a year or two ago before I joined this site.

Wow the suction is incredible for a rechargeable vacuum .

Hoover has yet another winner on its hands and at its price range why would you waste your hard earned money for a Dyson ?

It's great for quick pick ups but I can see some using it as the only vacuum say for apartment dwellers and elderly .

It has a motorized power nozzle which can be turned off . That's how I noticed the strong suction from such a small vacuum .

So glad I received this fabulous gift it will be well used .

Dan, that looks like a great stick vacuum! Hope you enjoy it for many years to come.

You might be interested to know that Aerus has just introduced a new stick vacuum, the Veridian Endeavor. It's not on the Aerus website yet, but a local Aerus representative, Richard Chadwick of Brampton, Ontario, sent me a email with a PDF of it, since I am a customer. The link below is EXACTLY identical to the one in the PDF I was sent. To my eye, it looks like this Hoover is being sourced from the same Chinese manufacturer with cosmetic changes.

Dan:
Thanks for the review of the Cruise. The first and second versions of the lux lite were made by TTI for Aerus, in China. The new Lux Lite is made by Tacony, in Missouri, for Aerus. It makes sense that they would have TTI (with whom they still have a relationship with respect to bags and repair parts for the first to Lux Lite models) to rebrand a cordless for them.

How is the handle feel? I notice with the Shark Rocket that, after a few minutes, it starts to really weight your wrist down. Is the Hoover better balanced? I like its design and I'm glad to know you have one and recommend it.

Bought a Rowenta Delta Force

I picked up the above mentioned 18 volt stick vac last year from Woot cheap and we've been very happy with it so far. Has high and low speeds and a brushroll and usually runs at least half an hour before it dies. Great for quick cleaning between major vacuuming. All the cordless units seem to finally run long enough to actually be usable lately with good enough suction. My first dustbuster type was lucky to run 15 minutes and had lousy suction. The battery very quickly would no longer hold a full charge and nobody sold the filter. I finally tossed it and decided to chance the Rowenta at 85 shipped. Still holds a charge and will pickup small stuff fine and actually grooms the rug a bit. If that Hoover works as good or better you'll love it.

I have the Dyson V8 and use it all the time. But it was expensive, so it would be nice if there was a less expensive alternative. The fact that the Hoover brushroll can be turned off must help extend battery life. The V8 runs a long time as long as it's on the low setting. But a backup battery would be a good thing to have. Agreed that these kind of vacuums would be a good only vacuum for someone in a small apartment and that they are great for quick pickups. but at least for me, they aren't a substitute for a good corded vac.

How long does it run

on a charge? The older Dyson only ran 15 minutes. Our daughter sent it right back.

I ran it

For about 30 minutes and it still has a charge .

It does have a removable battery which means you could buy extra batteries to extend cleaning .

Removable battery and a reasonable run time are great points in it's favor. My Rowenta would be a lot easier to deal with if I could swap out batteries easily. Will have to watch for it around here and hope it goes on a good sale. The Rowenta even makes a 24 volt version that is supposed to run 40 minutes or longer but I've never seen one before. Mine the brush roll stays running, no shutoff an no extra hose and all that but I couldn't beat the price.

30 minutes is good.

Extra batteries adds to the cost. Daughter likes her corded Rocket.
