What if anything should I do before firing this old girl up for the first time? I think I should probably change the belt on the filter queen made power head, I'm sure it's stretched and dried out after almost 30 years. The seller fired up the canister and said it runs quiet and strong.

Hey Ross...

Sorry you did not get any answers, but I would have fired it up. I am sure you were referring to the power nozzle belt. I agree, I would replace it.

I probably would have kept the original box, because I do that.

Tell me how this turned out...what you did, how it performed.

I don't have it yet it's being shipped to me. The unit is still in its original box with wrappings and books. I will keep all of it. I ordered a new belt for the power head. Will post more when it arrives.

You might also consider buying the Ball Bearing brush roller, available now but unavailable when the Royal was built. The Ball Bearing brush roller relieves much strain from the belt, and makes the belt last much longer. They are very inexpensive, and will certainly help your Royal clean even better. Always use the MicroFresh bags with your machine, and you should enjoy it for decades.

Hi, do you know where I can order the new brush roll from by chance?
