How can I tell the age of a hoover using the serial number? I've seen where with older ones you use the last 3 digits, you just have to know what decade it was from. But I've also been told in the 90's the system changed.

And that's my biggest question, how can I date hoovers from the 90's and up?

On Hoover cleaners made after 1987...

You use the first 4 digits of the serial number. So if the first four numbers are 0389. Then the Hoover in question was produced March (03) of 1989 (89). But as I stated, only on Hoovers made after 1987. Before, there is no real way to find a precise date

Before 1987 it was more of a guessing game. All the serial numbers started with 1001 so you are able to determine when it was mad in the production run

There IS a list, noting all of those older models....

including the 1st day of production to the last . My very close friend, Tom A. has one. I have some of the data, but not all. The later models were easier, I agree, to find.
