Hello,
a few days ago Shaylee wanted to buy a new Bissell Symphony from Lowes. It vacuums and steam mops at the same time. Im not crazy about it but she loves it. Well anyhow after about the 5th time using it the steam would no longer activate. The trigger wouldn't even click anymore. We took it back but I had marked the box just to see if it just gets put back on the shelf. The next day sure enough my box was sitting on the shelf. So now someone else is going to buy and return a non working Bissell.
make sure it's new before you take it home.

That's pretty slack. If it was returned as defective, it should never have been put back out on the floor. Somebody probably just plugged it in and turned it on for two seconds and decided that it works. I used to work for a discount retailer called Tuesday Morning and whenever a product was returned as defective, we would inspect it and test the specific function(s) the customer complained about. Depending on our assessment, it would be put in the 'last chance' section at a substantial discount and sold as-is with the defect clearly explained. If it was a health or safety issue, it would be zeroed out and tossed in the dumpster.

When I worked at target if we were told by the customer that it was defective then it either was sent back to the manufacturer or trashed. They should've asked if something is wrong with it, at Target our computer prompted us with a selection of options. We wouldn't have even tested an item, and generally people brought back larger items like vacuums either fully assembled still, while they just hand the box over to us, or fully assembled with no box and we had to look through our inventory to find the DCPI.

Like 2005 or so, I bought a steamer of amazon - not a rug steamer but a regular steamer that produces steam to clean things. When I got it, it worked, but I noticed the inside that holds water looked like calcium buildup from hard water - at that time in my life, I did not consider the possibility that it could have been used. It worked....so I continued to use it. It was a while later I started thinking about that and realized that I had gotten a totally used product. But to this day, the thing still works....I'm almost positive when I bought it it was NOT refurbished..
