I was walking through my local Walmart and seen one of the mangers in housewares unpacking a box labeled "non working display-Bissell Powerforce Bagged" in the vacuum section. I knew they had already redesigned the Powerforce Bagless and was curious as to if they would redesign the bagged version. I figured they would just try to phase out of it as most other manufacturers seem to be doing since bagless has became so popular. I am not a fan of many new plastivacs today, but the Bissell Powerforce bagged has always stood out as a solid performing decently priced bagged vacuum. I have used them numerous times in a commercial setting and they always seem to hold up pretty well, considering you can get one for under $50.

That being said I am rather curious to see how this model will turn out, so far the reviews on the bagless model are mostly positive and the previous two models of this vacuum were top sellers on the Walmart website. I must admit I do like the design of the new bagged version and will probably pick one up just to see how it performs since it is the only bagged vacuum sold at my local Walmart (I'm not a huge fan of bagless). I may also grab the old version if they put it on clearance.

Please share your thoughts and also has anyone else seen this machine yet or tried one? They are still not on the Bissell website and they don't have them in stock at Walmart yet either. Just the display .

Looks awful in my opinion. I don't know how cheap they are compare to the previous models. Anything made in department stores after the Hoover Convertibles, Eureka Uprights, etc. just doesn't look like a "Real" vacuum anymore in my opinion.

I do agree that you can't buy a "real" vacuum in department stores anymore. We live in a disposable society, if something breaks people just go buy a new one. That's the sad reality of today. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I agree most vacuums in the stores now do not appeal to me as well. I just liked the look of this cause for some reason it reminds me of some of the 90's vacuums I grew up playing with. Trust me I wished they still sold Hoover Convertibles in stores, I would love to have one NIB. Sadly those days are long gone...

I like the design, but I prefer the older models.

I'm a stickler for old vacuums but that looks really nice in my opinion. I used to have one of the blue "eco" powerforce bagged, and I've been thinking about buying the current model before they stop carrying them.

I was just wondering when the bagged Powerforce would be discontinued. I am pleasantly surprised to see that is has had a redesign!

Sure, it may not be as good as many vintage vacuums that we've all come to love, but at least Walmart is still selling a bagged vacuum! I'd begun to lose hope, Target doesn't carry bagged vacuums in store at all, and Eureka discontinued the Smartvac.

If the price is about the same as the previous bagged Powerforce then I just might have to buy one to see how it is.

Price

That is something I was wondering about as well. The bagless version is still the same price so I imagine this will be as well. I hope they also clearance the old version as I plan to buy one of these before they are gone. One vacuum I think that Walmart should sale in store is the Eureka 1934b. It's on their website for $79 and I believe it would do well in store as it would appeal to older customers who may have bought something like a Hoover Convertible years ago.

I'm...

Very glad you posted this! I've been holding off for a long time on purchasing one of the old models. My store already had sold out of the old ones and had stock of the new model. Just ordered two for myself from Walmart.com.

Can you do a video of it Fantom?

If you're fantomlightning from youtube, I would like it if you would make a video of the new powerforce bagged. If you're not that guy then that's fine I guess

I haven't seen the one one yet. I like the older Powerforces, they are lightweight and do a pretty good job. The only thing I don't like is the messy dustcup/filter setup on the bagless version.

Hopefully they will be as good as the older version, they may just be cheap vacuums but I've had and sold MANY over the years. They are actually pretty solid machines, not too heavy or noisy and excellent performance from a Walmart vacuum. I'll guess I've had 20 or 25 pass through and have only had Maybe 3 with burnt up motors. The bag less ones are pretty good and pretty low maintenance as far as bagless goes. I also like the newer cleanview version (not the latest, haven't tried one of those yet), they seem to be pretty good at cleaning, low maintenance and very quiet. Our old church had one of the black bagged ones that was 10 years old and although the brush roll was bald, the height adjustment wheels were long since gone, and it looked like it had been through a war, it still ran fine and vacuumed ok (on flat commercial carpet)

My local Walmart have the machines in stock, but they don't have any on display yet. I was very tempted to buy one last time I was in Walmart looking at them, but I'll wait until I can see a display model first.

I was pleasantly surprised

mpbyrd's profile picture
Surprisingly The plastic parts of this machine were not as flimsy as I thought they would be and actually seemed pretty solid compared to that of a Hoover T-Series which in my opinion were some of the most flimsy plastic I have ever seen. Hopefully once some reviews get out there we will see how well it holds up. Only time will tell.

I bought one yesterday

Not a bad lil vacuum very basic design. Good suction, decent agitation, grooms the carpet nicely as you can see from the pics. I like that there is an actual bag door latch instead of having to pull the door off as the previous model. All around not bad for a big box plastic vac. 8 amp motor by the way..I thought 10amps was the smallest for clean air vacs. I like the black and cobalt blue scheme.. too bad there's not even a small LED strip for a headlight oh well.. what do you expect for a $43 vac.

I plan to buy one when we finish moving to our new house, I really like the fact they have kept with the stretch hose, does it actually clip onto the base of the machine or do you just push it in?

Post# 361223 , Reply# 16   10/20/2016 at 16:22 (2,715 days old) by Hoover78 (dallas tx)
You push it onto the lower hose end

Really it's a cute stylish vac.. bissell website reviews are all 4/5 star ratings

I am not usually a fan of any newer Bissell, and the older ones I pretty much like just for nostalgic reasons. I must say, this muted color scheme looks pretty nice compared to other Walmart vacs. Not an explosion of neon colors or plasti-chrome, which is a win lol.

I like the colors on these too, and the simplicity of them. Simple, easy maintenance bagged vacuum. Lightweight and effective cleaner too, and not too loud.

The Bissell Powerforce bagged is one of the best bagged vacuums out there right now. It hovers around the $50 mark and with the Febreze bags in them they smell so nice. Very durable and very good suction. I bought one for someone else on Black Friday for $30 a number of years ago when it first came out and I was so stupid not to keep one for me.
