Hi everyone. Hope someone can help out on this. During the boom of infomercials in the 19 90s I recall seeing a Bissell tv spot featuring a bagged upright of theirs. The nozzle, which was 16 inches, was green and the bag/motor housing was white. The motor unit would detach for portable cleaning and the commercial touted the bare floor cleaning ability and strong suction available for that task with the brush roll off feature. I also recall a head to head bare floor cleaning contest setup that pitted the Bissell against an Eureka Excalibur upright. This tv spot aired around the same time as Bissell's marketing of the Little Green Machine. I've tried Google and just can't find any images of either the Vac or infomercial. Any help is appreciated!

It was called the Bissell plus. Later on, there was also a red and gray version that was sold in stores, such as Walmart, etc. I never cared for them.

I too have been looking for a commercial of the same machine. There was a short commercial where a woman is vacuuming in the Smithsonian with the Bissell. I remember her standing on the back of the wooly mammoth vacuuming him like shag carpet.

I always thought this was the original Bissel Lift-Off vacuum...a concept now used by Shark in their Lift-Away vacs.

This commercials are all on YouTube, they even have a portion of the infomercial. I'll try to get to my computer later and post the links!

Very cool

I remember that infomercial very well. I liked the part where they had some kind of ball in a clear plastic tube that went from the hose of the bissell to the hose of a Hoover powermax upright, the burgundy colored one. They turned on the Hoover first and it sucked the ball, they left that going and turned on the bissell and it over powered the Hoover and sucked the ball to its hose. Typical corny 90's infomercial stuff.

They looked so cool to me back then, now they look mediocre. I came across a maroon (ish) model a while ago but i had no idea that it lifted off. Had i known that the plus was the machine i remember as the "lift off" I would have picked it up so i could check it out first hand.

I have the maroon and gray one. Have had it for a few years but never got around to trying it out. It's an interesting vacuum, I like that the brush roll shuts off also.

This was also known as the 1st generation of the Bissell Lift-Off. The Bissell Lift-Off has seen a few different changes over the years. The nice thing about this version is that it was bagged. I have never tried one. I remember that Consumer Reports didn't think it was very powerful.

Reminds me

of the Regina "housekeeper"
Didn't like those either, but they were lightweight for frail or older people I suppose.
My grandmother used one, after her trusty 1940's Air Way Sanitizor became too heavy for her.
