I responded to a Craigslist ad the other day for this very nice Royal. At $45 I couldn't pass it up. I've been looking for a Royal from the early 2000s with the extra soft outer bag for quite some time now, so I was very excited when I saw this!

It's a 7.5 amp -- model 2025 from 2000. It hasn't seen too much use, the metal is still shiny and there are no scrapes in it surprisingly. It came with 5 new bags, the manual, and the belt lifter. I'm excited to finally have a Royal that doesn't use f&g bags! It's a little louder than I expected...My newest Royal is a 1989 Classic with a 6 amp motor I believe, there is definitely a difference in sound!

This is going to see a lot of use in my house and the Avalir will be retired for a while!

Very nice find there, I definitely like these WAY better than Kirbys.

I found a very nice 6A 886 this week on the list.

It came with original bags and a lifting tool. Very nice find you made too.

I like them about as equally compared to Kirby. I feel like I can grab a Royal and vacuum quickly and still know the floors got a good cleaning, although I much prefer Kirby for the attachment use.

Upright886-
Your Royal looked very nice! I've always liked that model because it has the 880 colors but the newer style logo, it's a cool combo.

I finally got around to cleaning mine up today. There's a few blemishes here and there but it's in great shape. I went and got a new belt and headlight for it today. I think the headlight socket might be bad though. It's lighting up but no actual light is being produced (if that makes sense). In any event, I'll live.
I took the sticker off, but this was purchased in 2000 at the Vacuum Cleaner Center in Michigan City, which is where most of the Royals lurking around Valpo came from.

Next step: HEPA bags and a deluxe attachment kit!

Hi matt,

Your 886 cleaned up really nice. I used to have one that I bought new in 1987. I sold it in 2009 because I got tired of changing those darned F&G bags. I bought a couple of Kirby's after that, but I realized I missed my 886.

In 2014 I found a great deal on an almost new/unused Royal Everlast 8300 for $100. It has a 10 amp motor and is sort of loud, but I love the sound of all that power. My favorite thing about it is that it uses B style bags. It has so much suction that I can't use it on throw rugs because it sucks them right off the floor and won't let go unless I turn it off. But for deep cleaning my wall to wall carpets, Not even my Kirby Sentria can match it.

I like BOTH my Royals and Kirbys-they work equally well for me.The Royals are LIGHTER than the Kirby. They do not need the Tech Drive.I like my high power 10A Royals,too-the sound of POWER!!!and they gulp down anything in their path!I am having a hard time getting the Filtrete bags-the dealer near me has a hard time getting them as well.Only on rare occasion he gets them-they come in two packs-but the bags last a LONG time like with Kirby Filterte bags.

Use Hoover Type A bags...

I found a Royal model 4000 at the local thrift store several months ago. I feel it's doing a better job deep cleaning my carpets then my GSix Kirby. However, I have come to prefer synthetic HEPA bags in my Kirbys, Electroluxes, Sanitaire/Eurekas(st type bags) and the little Simplicity Freedom. I looked around and found that I can use the Hoover Type A synthetic bags. They fit just fine and seem to be about as long as the Royal Type B bags. I hope you give them a try and see if you like them.

Yes I do that too. I put Hoover type A bags in my Royal 994. I also have a 4000 that I'm giving to a friend I put Hoover type A in that too.

Very nice Royal!

I have an Anniversary Edition from 1992. I personally prefer Royals to Kirbys. I happen to think that they clean and handle better. They are much lighter as well.
