I was on wikipedia.com searching Kirby vacuums. I found interesting that I found this website all about how bad (& good a little) Kirby's are. A Kirby is a Kirby. Either you like them or you don't.

Lets not just pick on Kirby-ALL of the DTD vacuums sales have complaints. The sales methods for ALL of them is about the same.Have sales training manuals for Kirby and Filter Queen.Really its too bad they don't show the POSITIVE "complaints" on Kirby,FQ,Rainbow, etc.

Oh no not the Kirby dirt...

I posted a message some weeks ago asking if Kirby's sales methods were outdated and should be changed. While there was a good deal of discussion on the topic, selling vacuums DTD will always have a great deal of draw backs and no company is perfect either. I agree with Tolivac, all DTD vacuum sales do have complaints but so do many vacuum companies. However, as sad as some of these read, there are so many other positive comments from people who either use the Kirby or collect them.

Matt :-)

Kirby sales, well actually many DTD sales have gotten a bad rep in some areas. I think it has a lot to do with the local distributor and how agressive they train their people to be. .

I know that FQ and Rainbow also have a rep for High pressure, and salesmen camping in their homes until they say no. As "times get harder" you find sales people getting more pushy. I know they are just trying to make a living in a very difficult profession

I on the other hand have never had a bad experience with a Kirby person, but then again as the old saying goes "You can't rape the willing". and I am a sucker for a shinny machine with a big bag.

kirby sales

my mom has had 2 kirby demonstrations, one in the late 80s with a heritage II legend, and one just before i bought my first kirby in the winter of 2006. she was very pleased with them although she never bought a new kirby. the girl who did the last one was very friendly, and was o.k. with the fact that my mom said their is no way she could buy one. recently a few months ago they came around again, this time i was there and i thought it would be funny to see the looks on their face when they saw my collection. so i let them in and i showed the girl my kirbys, her eyes got huge! she couldnt believe all the different models i had, then when the driver with the kirbys came in and took a look. he called his supervisor and told him what i had, then he seen i have 2 diamond editions and knew that i probably wouldnt buy a new one!

camping in their homes until they say no.

This line should have read "Camping in their homes until they say YES. Sorry, I'm not very smart. I have references if you need proof.
